21. Investigating mechanisms of angiogenesis in health and disease using zebrafish models
Sammanfattning : Angiogenesis, the growth of blood vessels from an existing vasculature, can occur by sprouting from preexisting vessels or by vessel splitting (intussusception). Pathological angiogenesis drives choroidal neovascularization (CNV) in age related macular degeneration (AMD) which is commonly restricted under the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE), called occult CNV, but may also involve vessels penetrating through the RPE into the sub-retinal space. 22. In vitro developmental neurotoxicity of acrylamide
Sammanfattning : The number of children with neurodevelopmental disorders is increasing worldwide which makes it a public concern. Exposure to environmental chemicals has been reported as a source of developmental neurotoxicity. LÄS MER
23. Developmental neurotoxicity of persistent and non-persistent pollutants : Behavioral and neurochemical assessments of a perfluorinated compound, pesticides and interaction effects
Sammanfattning : The focus of this thesis was to investigate developmental neurotoxic effects of different persistent and non-persistent environmental pollutants, alone or in binary mixtures, when exposure occurs during a critical period of brain development, in mice. The compounds investigated included a perfluorinated compound, perfluorohexane sulphonate (PFHxS), and four different pesticides, endosulfan, cypermethrin, chlorpyrifos and carbaryl. LÄS MER
24. Neurodevelopmental Consequences of Exposure to Paracetamol (Acetaminophen) and Related Drugs : Experimental studies in mice
Sammanfattning : Paracetamol (acetaminophen) is the analgesic pharmaceutical most commonly used during pregnancy and early life. While therapeutic doses of paracetamol are considered harmless during these periods, recent findings in both humans and rodents suggest a link between developmental exposure to paracetamol and behavioral consequences later in life. 25. Developmental and Reproductive Toxicity of Progestagens in the Xenopus (Silurana) tropicalis Test System
Sammanfattning : Progestagenic compounds are emerging contaminants found in surface and ground water around the world. Information on the effects and potency of progestagens is needed in order to understand the environmental risks posed by these compounds. LÄS MER
