  1. 1. Pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic analysis of antidiuretic peptides

    Författare :Torbjörn Callréus; Avdelningen för klinisk kemi och farmakologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; lithium; indirect-response model; pharmacodynamics; pharmacokinetics; gastrointestinal absorption; gastrointestinal motility; loperamide; erythromycin; antidiuretic effect; desmopressin; overhydration; vasopressin analogue F992 ; interaction; Pharmacological sciences; pharmacognosy; pharmacy; toxicology; Farmakologi; farmakognosi; farmaci; toxikologi;

    Sammanfattning : The clinical pharmacology of desmopressin and a new vasopressin analogue (F992) was investigated in healthy human subjects. The common procedure of overhydration of healthy volunteers when studying the antidiuretic effect of a drug, may affect the pharmacokinetics, in particular the volumes of distribution. LÄS MER

  2. 2. The bladder and the brain : Studies on the pathogenesis and the treatment of nocturnal enuresis

    Författare :Tryggve Nevéus; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Obstetrics and gynaecology; nocturnal enuresis; children; desmopressin; osmoregulation; sleep; arousal; detrusor instability; incontinence; oxybutynin; Obstetrik och kvinnosjukdomar; Obstetrics and women s diseases; Obstetrik och kvinnosjukdomar; pediatrik; Pediatrics;

    Sammanfattning : Opinions differ as to whether nocturnal enuresis is caused by high arousal thresholds, nocturnal polyuria or nocturnal bladder instability. In spite of the currently available therapeutic options - the antidiuretic drug desmopressin and alarm treatment - approximately 25% of children suffering from enuresis cannot be successfully treated. 3. 3. Nocturia in the elderly. Aspects on epidemiology, pathogenesis, and antidiuretic treatment

    Författare :Åsa Rembratt; Avdelningen för klinisk kemi och farmakologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; epidemiology; Public health; hyponatremia.; desmopressin; frequency-volume chart; voiding patterns; Nocturia; nocturnal polyuria; Folkhälsa; epidemiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Analysis of nocturia questionnaires mailed to all persons aged 65 years or more in Tierp, a Swedish rural community, showed that the number of nocturnal voids was highly correlated with urge and incontinence. No correlation between nocturia and a known and treated hypertension, angina, congestive heart failure or diabetes mellitus was detected. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Studies on intrinsic and extrinsic sources of variability in pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics

    Författare :Johanna Mercke Odeberg; Avdelningen för klinisk kemi och farmakologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; toxikologi; pharmacy; pharmacognosy; Pharmacological sciences; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; genetic polymorphisms UGT1A-and MDR1 gene ; indirect response model; desmopressin; oral lipid based formulations; farmaci; Farmakologi; toxicology; farmakognosi;

    Sammanfattning : Variability in pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic parameters between individuals can be due to intrinsic and extrinsic factors. In this thesis three different areas regarding sources of variability have been investigated. 1. Formulation properties as an extrinsic source of variability. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Therapy-resistant enuresis : In search of new therapies and prognostic markers

    Författare :Elisabet Lundmark; Tryggve Nevéus; Arne Stenberg; Sievert Lindström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Nocturnal enuresis; Reboxetine; Antidepressants; Desmopressin; Voiding chart; Pediatrik; Pediatrics;

    Sammanfattning : A large minority of children with enuresis do not respond to treatment with either desmopressin or the enuresis alarm. Anticholinergics have not proven as successful as expected. The fourth evidence-based treatment of enuresis, the tricyclic antidepressant imipramine, is cardiotoxic when overdosed, which has led to diminished use. LÄS MER
