    Författare :Hamza Bouchouireb; Ciarán J. O'Reilly; Peter Göransson; Rupert J. Baumgartner; José Potting; Tracy Bhamra; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; HUMANITIES; HUMANIORA; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; HUMANIORA; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; HUMANITIES; life cycle energy; vehicle design; optimisation; functional conflicts; livscykelenergi; fordonsdesign; optimering; tvär-funktionella konflikter; Farkostteknik; Vehicle and Maritime Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : The Life Cycle Energy Optimisation (LCEO) methodology aims at finding a design solution that uses a minimum amount of cumulative energy demand over the different phases of the vehicle's life cycle, while complying with a set of functional constraints. This effectively balances trade-offs, and therewith avoids sub-optimal shifting between the energy demand for the cradle-to-production of materials, operation of the vehicle, and end-of-life phases. 2. 2. Robust design : Accounting for uncertainties in engineering

    Författare :David Lönn; Larsgunnar Nilsson; Niclas Strömberg; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Robust optimisation; robust design; robustness; meta model; sensitivity analysis; Solid mechanics; Fastkroppsmekanik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns optimization of structures considering various uncertainties. The overall objective is to find methods to create solutions that are optimal both in the sense of handling the typical load case and minimising the variability of the response, i.e. robust optimal designs. 3. 3. Interactive Optimisation in Marine Propeller Design

    Författare :Ioli Gypa; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; NATURAL SCIENCES; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; marine propeller design; support-vector machines; machine learning; NSGA-II; optimisation; interactive genetic algorithms; progressively interactive evolutionary computation;

    Sammanfattning : Marine propeller design is a complex engineering problem that depends on the collaboration of several scientific disciplines. During the design process, the blade designers need to consider contradicting requirements and come up with one optimal propeller design as a solution to the specific problem. LÄS MER

  4. 4. In conversation with simulation: The application of numerical simulation to the design of structural nodal connections

    Författare :Jens Olsson; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; HUMANIORA; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; HUMANITIES; 3D Printing; Design theory; Structural design; Structural efficiency; Simulation; Peridynamics; Force flux density; Nodal connections; Conceptual design; Steel structures; Design process; Digital design;

    Sammanfattning : The thesis explores methods for integration of structural analysis, design and production in a digital design environment. The somewhat ambiguous title implies the ambition to make such integration in relation to the explorative phase of the design process which is described by Donald Schön as having a conversational character. 5. 5. Quasi-analytical Modelling and Optimisation Techniques for Transport Aircraft Design

    Författare :Askin T. Isikveren; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :aircraft; conceptual; design; specifications; atmosphere; geometry; weight; aerodyanmics; propulsion; operational performance; stability and control; constrained multi-objective optimisation; computer aided design; regional; business; high-transonic; ;

    Sammanfattning : The research work presented here focuses on the subject oftransport aircraft design at the pre-design or conceptuallevel. The primary topics addressed are: (1) generation of avast array of new quasi-analytical expressions to permit aconceptual treatment of commercial and business transportaircraft with adequate sensitivity for more advanced tradestudies; (2) review and adoption of a method to predictstability and control characteristics (using the Mitchellmethod); (3) a study of the relative merits between variousmethods in facilitating an expedient and robust constrainedmulti-objective optimisation result within the context oftraditional conceptual design problems (Genetic Algorithms andNelder-Mead Simplex search); (4) creation of a software packageas a new and unique conceptual tool that permits the generationof design proposals in an accurate yet expeditious manner; and,(5) practical demonstration of the new conceptual designsoftware package by undertaking some actual aircraft designproposals.
