6. Autonomous Lab-on-a-chip: solutions and fast prototyping tools
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, solutions for the development of autonomous Lab-on-a-chip (LOC), and 3D printing for fast prototyping of LOC devices are investigated. Lab-on-a-chip devices integrate analytical systems and conditioning processes in a compact package. LÄS MER
7. Design and optimization of parallel haptic devices : Design methodology and experimental evaluation
Sammanfattning : The simulation of surgical procedures, in the case of hard tissues such as bone or teeth milling, using a haptic milling surgery simulator requires a haptic device which can provide high stiffness and transparency. To mimic a real milling process of hard tissue, such as for example creating a narrow channel or cavity, the simulator needs to provide force/torque feedback in 5–6 degrees of freedom (DOF). LÄS MER
8. End-user activity-based service design in the built environment context : Exploring everyday life in KTH Live-in-Lab
Sammanfattning : The main goal of this thesis is to communicate the motivation, process, and result of the research project dedicated to exploring the topic of Service Design, based on end-user activities analysis in the built environment context. We have elected to use a KTH Live-in-Lab as a testbed in relation to the chosen living lab network of actors and stakeholders. LÄS MER
9. Cognitively inspired design : Rethink the wheel for self-driving cars
Sammanfattning : This thesis examines Cognitively Inspired Design (CID), which is the process of transferring cognitive science frameworks and theories to intelligent systems in an application context. The thesis studies the relation between cognitive science and the traditional approach to developing systems. LÄS MER
10. Engaging in Urban Living Lab Co-design
Sammanfattning : Urban Living Labs (ULL) have become a common way to address wicked design challenges within the future mobility, and smart city context. The move toward ULL is part of a paradigm shift away from focusing purely on the IT-artifact, innovation, and user-centeredness toward focusing on the urban context and the construction of a place as a social context rather than implementation of a product or service in isolation.
