  1. 1. Researching IoT through Design : An Inquiry into Being-At-Home

    Författare :Anuradha Reddy; Maria Hellström; Per Linde; Jonas Löwgren; Malmö universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Interaction Design; Internet of Things; Participation; Design Ethics; Home; Interaktionsdesign; Interaktionsdesign;

    Sammanfattning : Researching IoT through Design is a proposal for reworking how one might approach ubiquitous networked objects, or IoT, that no longer have stable and predictable uses – and to be-at-home with them in everyday life. This inquiry into being-at-home entails a shift from the idea of the home as a fixed, four-walled space for everyday routine separate from the outside world. LÄS MER

  2. 2. (re)Forming Accounts of Ethics in Design: Anecdote as a Way to Express the Experience of Designing Together

    Författare :Andrew Whitcomb; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Design research; ethics; pragmatism; artistic communication; participatory design;

    Sammanfattning : Designers and design researchers routinely engage other people in shaping preferred futures. Despite a growing recognition of designing as a social practice, however, the ethics of engagement often only appear ‘between the lines’ of the accounts design researchers provide about their experiences designing together. Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates the role of artefacts in relation to human agency and design within a cognitive semiotics framework. It deals with questions such as What is agency? What are artefacts and how does agency relate to them? What kind of intentions are involved in the activity of designing? What is human-specific with respect to agency and design? How can the origins and evolution of design be explained? Addressing these questions, the thesis proposes a layered model of agency for explaining the relations between different grades of agentive complexity. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Designing with care : Self-centered research for interaction design otherwise

    Författare :Karey Helms; Ylva Fernaeus; Airi Lampinen; Anna Ståhl; Laura Forlano; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; interaction design; care; care ethics; posthuman; posthuman feminism; more-than-human; design theory; research program; design otherwise; first-person; autotheory; Människa-datorinteraktion; Human-computer Interaction;

    Sammanfattning : This dissertation is about the research program designing with care as a pathway towards interaction design otherwise amid a world in crisis. Considering how established ways of doing interaction design will change involves recognizing the role of digital materials in social injustice and systemic inequality. LÄS MER

  5. 5. The planner's dilemma : An ethical investigation of adaptation to sea level rise

    Författare :Anna Döhlen Wedin; Karin Edvardsson Björnberg; Per Wikman-Svahn; Niklas Möller; Behnam Taebi; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; adaptation; climate change; sea level rise; planning; ethics; applied ethics; value sensitive design; planning for uncertainty; Philosophy; Filosofi;

    Sammanfattning : This is a thesis on the ethics of adaptation to sea level rise, with a focus on proactive adaptation planning. The research, which has been conducted within a transdisciplinary research project, takes a bottom-up approach to applied ethics, and has been conducted in close collaboration withadaptation planners and other project partners.
