  1. 1. Quantification of Radiation Induced DNA Damage Response in Normal Skin Exposed in Clinical Settings

    Författare :Martin Simonsson; Ingela Turesson; Gunilla Enblad; Dag Rune Olsen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; DNA damage response; low-dose hypersensitivity; dose response; normal tissue; epidermis; dermis; keratinocyte; fractionated radiotherapy; DNA double strand break; DSB; foci; gamma-H2AX; 53BP1; p21; checkpoint; apoptosis; mitosis; micro-RNA; miR-34a; Oncology; Onkologi; Oncology; Onkologi;

    Sammanfattning : The structure, function and accessibility of epidermal skin provide aunique opportunity to study the DNA damage response (DDR) of a normaltissue. The in vivo response can be examined in detail, at a molecularlevel, and further associated to the structural changes, observed at atissue level. LÄS MER

  2. 2. In vitro and in vivo studies on biodegradable matrices for autotransplantation

    Författare :Carl-Johan Gustafson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :In vitro; in vivo; dermis; matrix; autotransplantation; culture; keratinocytes; urothelium; tissue engineering; PUUR; macroporous spheres ; guided tissue regeneration;

    Sammanfattning : Tissue engineering (TE), one of the most rapidly growing fields of life science, is an interdisciplinary area in which technical, biological and medical expertise co-fertilize on another with the ultimate aim of restoring, maintaining or improving tissues and/or organs. This purpose links TE closely to research concerning reconstructive plastic surgery. LÄS MER

  3. 3. On percutaneous implants fate and feature

    Författare :Anna Larsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Hydroxyapatite; Bone anchored hearing aid; Percutaneous; Abutment; Dermal integration;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract The main objective of this thesis was to investigate skin reactions around percutaneous abutments in the facial and retroauricular regions. Secondary objectives were to investigate the number of lost extraoral implants and their co-morbidity over time, for example complications because of skin reactions due to the skinpenetrating abutment. 4. 4. Impaired reparative processes in particular related to hyaluronan in various cutaneous disorders : a structural analysis

    Författare :Ulf Bertheim; Bengt Gerdin; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :hyaluronan; scar tissue; diabetes mellitus; basal cell carcinoma; skin; wound healing; Oto-Rhino-Laryngology; oto-rhino-laryngologi;

    Sammanfattning : Cutaneous reparative processes, including wound healing, are highly developed procedures in which a chain of actions occurs to reconstitute the function of the wounded tissue. To prevent a delayed or excessive reparative process it is important to understand how this procedure develops and is maintained. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Pamoplantar Pustulosis. Pathogenetic Studies with Special Reference to the Role of Nicotine

    Författare :Eva Hagforsen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Medical sciences; Palmoplantar pustulosis; smoking; sweat gland apparatus; neuropeptides; non-neuronal cholinergic system; nicotinic receptor antibodies; autoimmune disease; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Dermatology and Venerology; dermatologi och venereologi;

    Sammanfattning : Palmoplantar pustulosis (PPP) is a chronic disease of unknown pathogenesis. Most of the patients were smokers. High prevalence of a number of autoimmune diseases was observed among the patients (thyroid disease 14%, gluten intolerance 8%, diabetes type 1 3%). Eosinophils and neutrophils were found in large numbers in the pustules. LÄS MER
