1. Spark plasma sintered ZrO2-SiO2 glass ceramics and Si3N4 bioceramics
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on elaboration and characterization of two types of bioceramics: one is ZrO2-SiO2 nanocrystalline glass ceramic (NCGC) for dental application. The goal is to develop new ZrO2-SiO2 NCGCs with a combination of high strength and high translucency; the other is biodegradable Si3N4 ceramics for spinal fusion. LÄS MER
2. On dental ceramics and their fracture : a laboratory and numerical study
Sammanfattning : Background Surface treatments and irregularities in the surfaces may affect the fracture of ceramics. The effects of various treatments on the surface texture of different types of ceramic cores/substructures was therefore qualitatively, quantitatively and numerically evaluated. LÄS MER
3. Mesoporous material systems for catalysis and drug delivery
Sammanfattning : Hybrid material systems possess multi-functional properties which make them intriguing for the materials science community since very early dates. However, it is not straightforward to produce such material systems. A smart and efficient approach is necessary to extract the desired properties of each component under the desired conditions. 4. Micromechanical retention and chemical bonding to polycrystalline dental ceramics : studies on aluminum oxide and stabilized zirconium dioxide
5. Influence of a dental ceramic and a calcium aluminate cement on dental biofilm formation and gingival inflammatory response
Sammanfattning : Dental restorative materials interact with their surrounding oral environment. Interaction factors can be release of toxic components and/or effects on biofilm formation and gingiva. In the end of the nineties, a calcium aluminate cement (CAC) was manufactured as a “bioceramic” alternative to resin composite. LÄS MER
