  1. 1. On the repair of the dentine barrier

    Författare :Helena Fransson; Malmö högskola; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; dentine; dental pulp capping; immunohistochemistry; enamel matrix proteins; bacteria; dental pulp exposure;

    Sammanfattning : Det övergripande målet för avhandlingen har varit att studera några aspekter av läkningen av tandens huvudsakliga hårdvävnad, dentinet. Vid mycket djupa kariesangrepp där dentinet förstörts och pulpan därmed blottats, rotbehandlas ofta tanden vilket innebär att pulpan tas bort och att rotkanalen fylls med ett rotfyllningsmaterial. 2. 2. Recombinant amelogenin - Strategies for purification and protein processing

    Författare :Johan Svensson Bonde; Tillämpad biokemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Recombinant amelogenin; protein purification; fusion protein; purification tag; enamel; hydroxyapatite; matrix protein; dental regeneration; wound healing; bone formation;

    Sammanfattning : Amelogenin is an extracellular matrix protein involved in formation of enamel during early tooth development. By interacting with the forming enamel crystallites amelogenin affects their growth, so that highly elongated hydroxyapatite crystals are formed. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Studies on Pellicle and Early Dental Plaque in Relation to Periodontal Conditions

    Författare :Stefan G Rüdiger; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; bacterial adherence; in vitro pellicle; in vivo pellicle; periodontitis-associated bacteria; gingival crevicular fluid; plasma proteins; dental biofilm; experimental gingivitis; chronic periodontitis; periodontal pocket; exposed root surfaces;

    Sammanfattning : Background and Hypothesis: Bacterial receptors in dental pellicles may influence colonisation and subsequent plaque formation. Studies on such receptors in the dental pellicles and bacterial adherence have mostly been performed in vitro and focused on proteins of salivary origin. LÄS MER

  4. 4. In vitro and in vivo studies of salivary films at solid/liquid interfaces

    Författare :Ida Svendsen; Malmö högskola; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; saliva; proteins; adsorption; ellipsometry; gel electrophoresis;

    Sammanfattning : A conditioning film, the pellicle, of which many salivary proteins areimportant constituents, covers the surfaces present in the mouth. The pellicleforms in a selective adsorption process, and it has protective and lubricatingfunctions as well as an influence on the adherence of oral microbes thatultimately leads to the development of dental plaque. 5. 5. Fighting microbial infections with force fields: Evaluating conformational ensembles of intrinsically disordered proteins

    Författare :Stephanie Jephthah; Beräkningskemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; molecular dynamics; force field; Monte Carlo; coarse-grained modeling; simulation; intrinsically disordered protein; histatin 5; small-angle x-ray scattering; circular dichroism; atomistic MD simulations; all-atom protein models;

    Sammanfattning : The main goal of this compilation thesis has been to investigate the conformational ensemble of the intrinsically disordered protein (IDP) histatin 5 by using a mixture of experimental and computational techniques including, but not limited to, small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS), circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy, atomistic molecular dynamics (MD) simulations, and coarse-grained Monte Carlo (MC) simulations. Histatin 5 is a peptide of particular interest for two reasons. LÄS MER
