17. Charcot-Marie-tooth disease : muscle morphological and neurophysiological aspects
Sammanfattning : Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT) is a common inherited disorder of the peripheral nervous system characterised by distal weakness and muscular atrophy, sensory disturbance of the distal limbs, diminished or absent deep tendon reflexes and often pes cavus. 18. Tracing local hyaluronan after ocular anterior segment trauma
Sammanfattning : Hyaluronan has been found in the eye in varying amounts and at different sites. It is involved in physiological and pathological processes, though many aspects of its bio-logi-cal functions are still unclear. We have studied the role of iris tissue in hyal-uro-nan production in the anterior segment of the eye, and its changes after trauma. LÄS MER
19. Transurethral microwave thermotherapy of benign prostatic hyperplasia : mechanisms of action and clinical outcome
Sammanfattning : Background: The therapeutic value of transurethral microwave thermotherapy (TUMT) in benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a matter of debate. Aims: Evaluation of the clinical effect of TUMT and of various duration of the treatment; investigation of the kind and extent of tissue lesions induced by TUMT and of the mechanisms behind the therapeutic effect; investigation of the effect of heat on human prostate stromal cells in cell culture.
