  1. 1. Microstructural Evolution In As-cast Alloys during Plastic Deformation

    Författare :Mitra Basirat; Pär Jönsson; Hasse Fredriksson; Jacques Lacaze; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :plastic deformation; compression test; recrystallization; deformation band; As-cast; microsegregation; carbide dissolution; disordered structure; order disorder transformation; twining; steel; β brass; copper; SRA - E-Science SeRC ; SRA - E-vetenskap SeRC ;

    Sammanfattning : The effect of deformation on microstructural changes in metals and alloys is the subject of considerable practical interest. The ultimate goal is to control, improve and optimize the microstructure and texture of the finished products produced by metal forming operations. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Generalised stacking fault energy and plastic deformation of austenitic stainless steels

    Författare :Dávid Sándor Molnár; Levente Vitos; Guocai Chai; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; stacking fault energy; stainless steel; plasticity; deformation; ab initio; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Materials Science and Engineering; Steel Forming and Surface Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Austenitic stainless steels are primarily known for their exceptional corrosion resistance. They have the face centred cubic (FCC) structure which is stabilised by adding nickel to the Fe-Cr alloy. The Fe-Cr-Ni system can be further extended by adding other elements such as Mn, Mo, N, C, etc. in order to improve the properties. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Anisotropic mechanical behaviors and microstructural evolution of thin-walled additively manufactured metals

    Författare :Cheng-Han Yu; Johan Moverare; Ru Lin Peng; Joe Kelleher; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; hot tensile testing; slow strain rate tensile testing; creep; anisotropy; crystallographic texture evolution; deformation twinning; Varmdragprov; Dragprov med låg töjningshastighet; kryp; anisotropi; kristallografisk textur; deformationstvillingar;

    Sammanfattning : Additive manufacturing (AM), also known as 3D printing, is a concept and method of a manufacturing process that builds a three-dimensional object layer-by-layer. Opposite to the conventional subtractive manufacturing, it conquers various limitations on component design freedom and raises interest in various fields, including aerospace, automotive and medical applications. 4. 4. Stacking fault energy and deformation behaviour of austenitic stainless steels: a joint theoretical-experimental study

    Författare :Dávid Sándor Molnár; Levente Vitos; Göran Engberg; Guocai Chai; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; austenitic stainless steel; deformation properties; stacking fault energy; electron backscatter diffraction; ab initio; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Materials Science and Engineering; Steel Forming and Surface Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Austenitiska rostfria stål är främst kända för sin exceptionella korrosionsbeständighet. De har en ytcentrerad kubisk (FCC) struktur som stabiliseras genom att nickel, mangan eller kväve tillsätts till Fe-Cr legeringen. Fe-Cr-Ni-systemet kan utökas ytterligare genom tillsats av andra element såsom Mo, Cu, Ti, C, etc. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Experimental Studies of Deformation Structures in Stainless Steels using EBSD

    Författare :Karin Yvell; Annika Borgenstam; Peter Hedström; Göran Engberg; Johan Moverare; Högskolan Dalarna; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; EBSD; Austenitic stainless steels; Duplex stainless steel; In situ tensile test; Grain boundaries; Grain rotation; Grain size distribution; Texture; Strain hardening; Structure-property relationship; High strain rate; Wire rod rolling; Roll forming; Steel Forming and Surface Engineering; Stålformning och ytteknik;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, the focus has been the study of deformation structures in stainless steels by using electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD). Via increased knowledge of the evolution of the substructure during deformation, the design and control of the manufacturing process can be improved. LÄS MER
