1. Exploring the Scalability and Performance of Networks-on-Chip with Deflection Routing in 3D Many-core Architecture
Sammanfattning : Three-Dimensional (3D) integration of circuits based on die and wafer stacking using through-silicon-via is a critical technology in enabling "more-than-Moore", i.e. functional integration of devices beyond pure scaling ("more Moore"). LÄS MER
2. Aerodynamic Studies of Vertical Axis Wind Turbines using the Actuator Line Model
Sammanfattning : This thesis addresses the unsteady aerodynamics involved in the operation of vertical axis wind turbines (VAWTs). The main focus is to represent and understand the most relevant phenomena within the resulting flow pattern as the wake structure, loads on the different turbine components and the performance of the rotor. 3. Feedback Control of Robotic Friction Stir Welding
Sammanfattning : The Friction Stir Welding (FSW) process has been under constant developmentsince its invention, more than 20 years ago. Whereas most industrial applicationsuse a gantry machine to weld linear joints, there are applications which consistof complex three-dimensional joints, requiring more degrees of freedom fromthe machines. 4. On Rail Vehicle Dynamics in Unsteady Crosswind Conditions : Studies Related to Modelling, Model Validation and Active Suspension
Sammanfattning : Crosswind stability of rail vehicles has been a research area for several decades, mainlymotivated by vehicle overturning accidents and higher speeds, but in recent times also byissues of lower energy consumption and track maintenance costs demanding lower vehi-cle weights. During everyday operation, rail vehicles are subjected to substantial lateralinfluences from track curves, track irregularities and crosswind, leading to large suspen-sion deflections and increased crosswind sensitivity. 5. Moisture-induced stress and distortion of wood : A numerical and experimental study of wood's drying and long-term behaviour
Sammanfattning : With the current advances made in three-dimensional modelling of wood, it is possible to provide an overall picture of moisture flow, and moisture-induced stress and deformations, whereas previously, experiments only provided local measurements. The main aim of the doctoral thesis is to investigate the possibilities of the developed three-dimensional numerical model to predict the behaviour of wood when simultaneously exposed to a mechanical load and a particular climate.
