  1. 1. Deep Perceptual Loss and Similarity

    Författare :Gustav Grund Pihlgren; Marcus Liwicki; Fredrik Sandin; Hugo Larochelle; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Image Similarity; Perceptual Similarity; Perceptual Loss; Deep Features; Deep Learning; Machine Learning; Maskininlärning;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates deep perceptual loss and (deep perceptual) similarity; methods for computing loss and similarity for images as the distance between the deep features extracted from neural networks. The primary contributions of the thesis consist of (i) aggregating much of the existing research on deep perceptual loss and similarity, and (ii) presenting novel research into understanding and improving the methods. 2. 2. Phenotypic antibody discovery and mining of complex antibody libraries

    Författare :Anne Ljungars; Institutionen för immunteknologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Antibody discovery; Phage display; Phenotypic screening; Cell selection; Deep mining; Complex phage pools;

    Sammanfattning : Therapeutic antibodies are the fastest growing class of drugs but suffer from a crowded target-space where many antibodies, against a few targets, are developed in parallel. The aim of this thesis is to find methods to enable discovery of novel antibody-target combinations and thereby increase the target-space. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Seismic Exploration Solutions for Deep-Targeting Metallic Mineral Deposits : From high-fold 2D to sparse 3D, and deep-learning workflows

    Författare :Magdalena Markovic; Alireza Malehmir; Gilles Bellefleur; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Exploration; Seismic; Mineral Deposits; Diffraction; Deep learning;

    Sammanfattning : Mineral exploration has in recent years moved its focus to greater depths than ever before, particularly in brown fields. Exploring new deposits at depth, if economical, would not only expand the life of mine but also provide minimal environmental impacts. It allows the existing mining infrastructures to be used for a longer period. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Footwall stability in SLC mining

    Författare :Mikael Svartsjaern; David Saiang; Andreas Eitzenberger; Doug Stead; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Mining and Rock Engineering; Gruv- och Berganläggningsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is based on a case study of the Kiirunavaara sublevel cave (SLC) mine. It focuses on footwall stability and damage development in the mining infrastructure on mine scale. Damage to the infrastructure is mappable for the full height of the footwall by access through decommissioned infrastructure associated with earlier mining stages. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Algorithmic discovery, development and personalized selection of higher-order drug cocktails : A label-free live-cell imaging & secretomics approach

    Författare :Efthymia Chantzi; Mats G Gustafsson; Ulf Hammerling; Andreas Bender; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; drug combination discovery and development; personalized pharmacotherapy; higher-order drug combination analysis; quantitative label-free live-cell imaging; secretomics; cell-cell communication; deep learning; convolutional neural networks; data mining; MapReduce; resampling; generalized highest single agent; COMBImageDL; COMBSecretomics; Bioinformatics; Bioinformatik; Pharmacology; Farmakologi; Engineering Science; Teknisk fysik;

    Sammanfattning : An upward trend in clinical pharmacology is the use of multiple drugs to combat complex and co-occurring diseases due to better efficacy, decreased toxicity and reduced risk of evolving resistance. Despite high late-stage attrition rates and the need for multi drug treatments, most drug discovery and development efforts are still mainly focused on new one-size-fits-all monotherapies. LÄS MER
