2. Psychiatric disability in the community : Surveying the social landscape in the post-deinstitutional era
Sammanfattning : This dissertation presents a discussion of life in the community for people experiencing psychiatric disabilities in the post-deinstitutional era, with the goal of developing knowledge that can suggest a focus for planning more relevant services and supports. While evaluations of deinsitutionalization have focused on possibilities for providing community, rather than hospital-based services for these individuals, the intention was to support a participatory life in the community, a life defined by much more than just care and treatment. Sammanfattning : This dissertation contributes to the debate on street-level bureaucracy, which highlights how the decisions made by workers in public bureaucracies effectively become public policy. This debate has paid relatively little attention to the study of how professionals carry out their work by means of institutional categorization, a knowledge gap that this study helps to close. 5. Litteracitetsaktiviteter i slöjd och samhällskunskap : Fallstudier av flerspråkiga elevers textanvändning
Sammanfattning : The present thesis comprises two case studies of two multilingual pupils in second-ary school, focusing on the relationship between knowledge, language and learning through a comparison of literacy activities in the two school subjects, Textile Crafts and Social Studies.The theoretical framework is sociocultural and the research methods include ob-servations, interviews and artifact analysis of the literacy practices in the two sub-jects as well as analyses of spoken and written texts.
