1. CO2 Emissions from Northern Lakes : Insights on regulation and spatiotemporal variability across contrasting lakes in Sweden
Sammanfattning : Lakes cover only ~2 % of the global land area, but their connections to the surrounding catchment make them important for the global carbon cycle. A considerable amount of the carbon input to lakes is emitted to the atmosphere as carbon dioxide (CO2) through diffusive flux. LÄS MER
2. Sorting and Import of Plant Mitochondrial Precursor Proteins
Sammanfattning : The mitochondrial genome encodes only a handful of the mitochondrial proteins; hundreds of mitochondrial proteins are encoded in the nucleus, synthesised on cytosolic polyribosomes and subsequently imported into the organelle. Most of the proteins targeted to the mitochondria are synthesised as precursors with an N-terminal extension called presequence or targeting sequence. LÄS MER
3. Walking as a transport mode : Examining the role of preconditions, planning aspects and personal traits for the urban pedestrian
Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis is to examine how walking as a transport mode is constructed in the planning realm, affected by the built environment and perceived by the individual. This aim is related to the following research questions: (1) How are pedestrians and walking understood, constructed and perceived in the planning context? (2) How does individual traits and the built environment affect the propensity of walking? The thesis starts off by arguing for the need of a holistic take on walking as a mode of transport (Study A). 4. Irreversible electroporation in the liver
Sammanfattning : Introduction: Malignant tumours in the liver are divided into primary liver cancers and liver metastases. Among primary liver cancers, hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) accounts for 75-85% and is globally the fourth most common cause of cancer related death. Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the second most common cause of cancer related death. LÄS MER
5. Integrating Heat Pumps into Smart Grids
Sammanfattning : Transforming our energy system towards 100% renewable energy sources requires radical changes across all energy sectors. Heat pumps as efficient heat generation technology link the electricity and heat sector. From 2010 to 2015 between 750,000 and 800,000 heat pumps have been sold every year across Europe. LÄS MER
