1. Ordering in Crystalline Short-Chain Polymer Electrolytes
Sammanfattning : Polymer electrolytes are the most obvious candidates for safe "all-solid" Li-ion batteries and other electrochemical devices. However, they still have relatively poor ionic conductivities, which limits their wider adoption in commercial applications. LÄS MER
2. Alterations in receptor expression and function in scrapie-infected neuronal cell lines
Sammanfattning : This study shows that lipopolysaccharide (LPS) induces a robust, concentration-and time-dependent increase in nitric oxide (NO) production in the murine neuroblastoma cell line N2a by increased expression of iNOS. However, in scrapie-infected N2a cells (ScN2a), the LPS-induced NO production was completely abolished. LÄS MER
3. Mobility is the Message : Experiments with Mobile Media Sharing
Sammanfattning : This thesis explores new mobile media sharing applications by building, deploying, and studying their use. While we share media in many different ways both on the web and on mobile phones, there are few ways of sharing media with people physically near us. LÄS MER
4. Migration in anadromous brown trout
Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates the anadromous migration of brown trout (Salmo trutta) with the overall aim to improve stock management within the region. Several field studies were conducted in different streams and coastal areas on the west coast of Sweden specifically aimed to evaluate environmental triggers for migration (Paper I), migration pathways and strategies (Paper III and IV) as well as the genetic differentiation of anadromous populations of brown trout (Paper V). 5. Brown adipose tissue recruitment in-vivo and in-vitro
Sammanfattning : Brown adipose tissue recruitment was studied in the newborn hamster and in brown adipocyte precursor cell cultures. In the newborn hamster, the development of the thermogenic potential of brown adipose tissue was followed by estimating the amount of the uncoupling protein thermogenin by the binding of GDP to the mitochondria.
