1. Preparatory Studies to Introduce Regulatory T Cells in Clinical Transplantation
Sammanfattning : Solid organ transplantation has evolved from being an experimental procedure to a life-saving treatment for patients with end-stage organ failure. The risk of losing a transplant due to acute rejection is very low with the use of modern immunosuppressive protocols and the short-term results are impressive. LÄS MER
2. On lifelong learning as stories of the present
Sammanfattning : This thesis examines the discursive construction of lifelong learning in Swedish, Australian and American policy. Lifelong learning has an aura of apparent self-evidence which this study wishes to challenge by deconstructing the normalised truths in contemporary lifelong learning policies. LÄS MER
3. Biodegradable nanocomposite films based on amylopectin and chitosan
Sammanfattning : The use of disposable material is rapidly increasing, today the absolute majority of the material used for these application, i.e. food packages, are oil-based plastics such as polyethylene and polypropylene. Therefore it is of great importance to find alternative biodegradable materials made from renewable resources for this huge growing market. LÄS MER
4. Biocomposites Based on Core-Shell Cellulose Nanofibers : Preparation, Structure, and Properties
Sammanfattning : Cellulose nanofibers (CNFs) are of interest as load-bearing components for polymer matrix nanocomposites. A wide range of nanostructured materials including nanopaper/films, foams, aerogels, and hydrogels can be prepared from CNFs. The material performance can be fine-tuned when CNFs are combined with different polymer matrices. LÄS MER
5. Exploring medical applications of a bioactive polymer
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, we have studied a polymeric compound called PVAC, designed as a scavenger of reactive electrophilic substances. We explored several diseases where these substances are overproduced. In Paper I, adhesion formation was induced via bowel anastomosis surgery in rats. LÄS MER
