  1. 11. Perspectives on low carbon lifestyles

    Författare :David Andersson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; GHG emissions; climate change; satisfaction with travel scale; sustainable consumption; materialistic values; air travel; rebound effect.; congestion charge; households; subjective well-being;

    Sammanfattning : Climate change is one of the most severe problems facing the world today. If extensive measures are not undertaken to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions within the near future, the natural conditions under which life depends will change for the worse (Pachauri et al, 2014). 2. 12. Simple Models for Complex Nonequilibrium Problems in Nanoscale Friction and Network Dynamics

    Författare :David Andersson; Astrid de WIjn; Supriya Krishnamurthy; Nicola Manini; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; tribology; nanofriction; 2d materials; graphene; image reconstruction; social dynamics; common-pool resource; collective action; simple models; teoretisk fysik; Theoretical Physics;

    Sammanfattning : This doctoral thesis investigates three different topics: How friction evolves in atomically thin layered materials (2D materials); How social dynamics can be used to model grand scale common-pool resource games; Benchmarking of various image reconstruction algorithms in atomic force microscopy experiments. While these topics are diverse, they share being complex out-of-equilibrium systems. LÄS MER

  3. 13. What characterizes persons with high and low GHG emissions? Lifestyles, well-being and values among Swedish households

    Författare :David Andersson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Greenhouse gas emissions; sustainable consumption; subjective-wellbeing; materialism; sustainable consumption;

    Sammanfattning : Global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions need to be reduced to around a third of the current level before 2050 and approach zero at the end of the century if we are likely to reach the twodegree target. Sweden has sometimes been promoted as a model for the transition towards sustainable emission levels, with reductions of 20 percent between 1990 and 2012, but when embedded emissions from imported goods are accounted for (and exports are excluded) the development instead show an increase by at least 15 percent between 1993 and 2010. 4. 14. Studies on the occurrence and effects of human papillomavirus in tumors of the head and neck

    Författare :David Lindquist; Tina Dalianis; Sonia Andersson; Karolinska Institutet Institutionen för onkologi-patologi; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; onkologi; Oncology;

    Sammanfattning : The presence of human papillomavirus (HPV) in squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck (HNSCC) was first reported in 1985. Since then, this association has been studied intensively and today there is substantial evidence for HPV as a causative agent and positive prognostic factor for clinical outcome in tonsillar cancer, but the association to other HNSCC is still unclear. 5. 15. Modern multimodal methods in brain MRI

    Författare :David Abramian; Anders Eklund; Evren Özarslan; Ida Blystad; Hamid Behjat; Jesper Andersson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MRI; Functional MRI; Diffusion MRI; Graph signal processing; Deep learning;

    Sammanfattning : Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is one of the pillars of modern medical imaging, providing a non-invasive means to generate 3D images of the body with high soft-tissue contrast. Furthermore, the possibilities afforded by the design of MRI sequences enable the signal to be sensitized to a multitude of physiological tissue properties, resulting in a wide variety of distinct MRI modalities for clinical and research use.
