11. On the Economic Return of a Software Investment – Managing Cost, Benefit and Uncertainty
Sammanfattning : The purpose of this dissertation is to explore how the economic return of a software investment can be assessed and managed. This topic has been studied in research and has been a concern for firms making software investments. In order to study this we need a model of the underlying factors affecting the economic return. 12. On Uncertainty and Data Worth in Decision Analysis for Contaminated Land
Sammanfattning : Contaminated soil and groundwater is a problem that has received increased attention in the last decade. Decision-making about investigation strategies, protective actions, and remedial actions is based on sparse and uncertain information, primarily data of contaminant concentrations and geological information. 13. A visual query language served by a multi-sensor environment
Sammanfattning : A problem in modern command and control situations is that much data is available from different sensors. Several sensor data sources also require that the user has knowledge about the specific sensor types to be able to interpret the data. LÄS MER
14. Robustness During Learning, Interaction and Adaptation for Autonomous Driving
Sammanfattning : In a sequential decision-making process, it is imperative to consider the potential risks of taking incorrect decisions throughout the whole process as all wrongdoings may not be possible to be remedied. This is particularly important when there are potentially catastrophic consequences. LÄS MER
15. Modelling the terrestrial carbon cycle – drivers, benchmarks, and model-data fusion
Sammanfattning : The terrestrial ecosystem sequesters about one-third of anthropogenic emissions each year, thereby providing a critical ecosystem service that slows the rate of increase of atmospheric carbon dioxide and helps mitigate climate change. Observed atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations exhibit a large inter-annual variability which is considered to be caused primarily by the response of the terrestrial ecosystem to climate change and anthropogenic activity.
