  1. 1. The RNA exosome and the maintenance of genome integrity

    Författare :Judit Domingo Prim; Neus Visa; Andrés Aguilera; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; EXOSC10; RRP6; DNA damage; diRNA; DDRNA; DNA end resection; homologous recombination; molekylär biovetenskap; Molecular Bioscience;

    Sammanfattning : The RNA exosome is a ribonucleolytic complex that acts on different RNA substrates and plays important roles in RNA metabolism. In recent years, the synthesis and the processing of RNA have been directly linked to the integrity of the genome. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Ulcerative colitis : colorectal cancer risk and surveillance in an unselected population

    Författare :Jan Lindberg; Curt Tysk; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :ulcerative colitis; colonoscopic surveillance; colorectal cancer; dysplasia; DNA aneuploidy; cytokeratin; colorectal resection; early onset; Surgery; kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : Ulcerative colitis is a chronic inflammatory disease that mainly affects the colon and rectum. Onset of disease is most common between the ages of 15-35 years. There is an observed increased risk of colorectal cancer associated with the disease. The risk is often described to be 2% after 10 years, 8% after 20 years and 18% after 30 years disease. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Molecular characterization of the interplay between DNA-PK and TRF2 in telomere protection

    Författare :Beatrice Toia; Francisca Lottersberger; Anita Öst; Grazia Daniela Raffa; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The genetic material of mammalian cells is organized as linear chromosomes inside their nucleus. In order to preserve genomic stability, mammalian cells have developed several mechanisms to detect and repair DNA lesions that can occasionally occur in the genome. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Studies of cohesin functions in the yeast and human DNA damage response

    Författare :Elin Enervald; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Maintaining genome stability is critical to cell survival and normal cell growth and most human cancers display some form of genome instability. Genome instability is caused by multiple reasons and the ability to properly recognize, signal and subsequently repair DNA damages is crucial. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Towards a cohesive understanding of the DNA damage response as a therapeutic target

    Författare :Martin Scherzer; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : At the basis of the complexity that forms a human being is a highly regulated interplay of factors found at a molecular, cellular, and macroscopic level. Ever since we evolved to work this way, even the slightest dysregulation at the molecular level can cascade and manifest as a non-communicable disease which ultimately affects the whole organism.
