11. Biological Sensing and DNA Templated Electronics Using Conjugated Polymers
Sammanfattning : Conjugated polymers have been found useful in a wide range of applications such as solar cells, sensor elements and printed electronics, due to their optical and electronic properties. Functionalization with charged side chains has enabled water solubility, resulting in an enhanced interaction with biomolecules. LÄS MER
12. Arrayed identification of DNA signatures
Sammanfattning : In this thesis techniques are presented that aim to determine individual DNA signatures by controlled synthesis of nucleic acid multimers. Allele-specific extension reactions with an improved specificity were applied for several genomic purposes. Since DNA polymerases extend some mismatched 3’-end primers, an improved specificity is a concern. LÄS MER
13. Recognition and Evaluation by Video Synthesis Methods and Symmetry Features
Sammanfattning : Biometrics is being increasingly utilized for person authentication. It requires little or no efforts from the user as compared to traditional non-biometric systems where the user has to memorize PIN codes and passwords or carry pass cards and keys that can be easily forgotten or lost. 14. Padlock Probes and Rolling Circle Amplification : New Possibilities for Sensitive Gene Detection
Sammanfattning : A series of novel methods for detection of known sequence variants in DNA, in particular single nucleotide polymorphism, using padlock probes and rolling circle replication are presented. DNA probes that can be circularized – padlock probes – are ideal for rolling circle replication. LÄS MER
15. Dried blood sampling and digital readout to advance molecular diagnostics
Sammanfattning : A drastically increased capacity to measure large sets of molecular features in numerous patient samples in great detail will be required to fulfill the vision of precision medicine and wellness, which may characterize molecular diagnostics in the 21st century. Also sampling procedures need a renaissance to permit continuous sampling at population levels at reasonable cost. LÄS MER
