  1. 21. DNA-dependent protein kinase in human cells

    Författare :Annahita Sallmyr; Malmö Klinisk mikrobiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; enzymology; virology; mycology; mykologi; virologi; Proteiner; enzymologi; bacteriology; Microbiology; Sjögren s syndrome; HL60; PMN; Ku86v; Ku86; DNA-PK; DNA DSBs; NHEJ; Proteins; Mikrobiologi; bakteriologi;

    Sammanfattning : DNA-dependent protein kinase (DNA-PK) is a holoenzyme consisting of a regulatory subunit, the heterodimeric Ku70/86, and a catalytic subunit known as DNA-dependent protein kinase catalytic subunit (DNA-PKcs). DNA-PK takes part in a number of cellular functions including growth control, immunoglobulin gene rearrangement and DNA repair. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Measurement of sensitivity to DNA damaging agents

    Författare :Sherin T Mathew; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; intrinsic sensitivity; DNA damage; ionizing radiation; cell division;

    Sammanfattning : There is a large inter-individual variation in intrinsic sensitivity in patients receiving treatment with DNA damaging agents. Cancer therapy exemplifies this problem where patients experience varying degree of normal tissue side effects in response to radiation or chemotherapy. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Temperature effects on UV-B induced DNA damage and repair in plants and a lichen

    Författare :Markus Paulsson; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Tobacco Nicotiana tabacum ; Temperature; Subarctic; Plants; Photoreactivation; Photolyase; Lichen; DNA damage; Cyclobutane pyrimidine dimers CPD ; 6-4 Photoproducts; Cladonia arbuscula ssp. mitis; Ultraviolet radiation; UV-B; Vaccinium vitis-idaea; Plant genetics; Växtgenetik;

    Sammanfattning : All living organisms have DNA and since DNA is essential to life it must be repaired when damaged. UV radiation is one of the major DNA damaging agents, which photosynthetic organisms cannot avoid. LÄS MER

  4. 24. DNA Damage Response of Normal Epidermis in the Clinical Setting of Fractionated Radiotherapy : Evidence of a preserved low-dose hypersensitivity response

    Författare :Fredrik Qvarnström; Ingela Turesson; Gunilla Enblad; Mats Harms-Ringdahl; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; DNA damage response; low-dose hypersensitivity; dose response; normal tissue; epidermis; keratinocyte; fractionated radiotherapy; DNA double strand break; DSB; foci; γH2AX; 53BP1; checkpoint; p21; apoptosis; mitosis; Oncology; Onkologi; Oncology; onkologi;

    Sammanfattning : Investigations of DNA damage response (DDR) mechanisms in normal tissues have implications for both cancer prevention and treatments. The accumulating knowledge about protein function and molecular markers makes it possible to directly trace and interpret cellular DDR in a tissue context. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Repair of DNA double-stranded breaks in human cells

    Författare :Susanne Nyström; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; DNA-PK; DNA double-stranded break; DSB; DNA single-stranded break; SSB; DNA damage; ionizing radiation; IR; DNA repair; calicheamicin gamma1; bleomycin; etoposide; topoisomerase II; radiotherapy; radiosensitizer; ATM;

    Sammanfattning : DNA is continuously subjected to degradation. Therefore, our cells need to constantly repair its DNA to prevent mutations and in the long run cancer. In mammalian cells, when DNA is broken right off, a double-stranded break (DSB) is produced, and the ends are ligated by a process called non-homologous end-joining (NHEJ). LÄS MER
