1. Role of yeast DNA polymerase epsilon during DNA replication
Sammanfattning : Each cell division, the nuclear DNA must be replicated efficiently and with high accuracy to avoid mutations which can have an effect on cell function. There are three replicative DNA polymerases essential for the synthesis of DNA during replication in eukaryotic cells. LÄS MER
2. Ribonucleotides in DNA - Application in genome-wide DNA polymerase tracking and physiological role in eukaryotes
Sammanfattning : The genetic code in the eukaryotic cell is stored in the form of DNA, which is more resistant to hydrolysis than RNA. Replication fidelity and DNA repair mechanisms are in place to ensure genomic integrity to preserve the information encoded. LÄS MER
3. Structure of eukaryotic DNA polymerase epsilon and lesion bypass capability
Sammanfattning : To transfer the information in the genome from mother cell to daughter cell, the DNA replication must be carried out only once and with very high fidelity prior to every cell division. In yeast there are several different DNA polymerases involved in DNA replication and/or DNA repair. LÄS MER
4. Herpes Simplex Virus 1 DNA replication and its role in recombination and transcription
Sammanfattning : Herpes simplex virus 1 (HSV-1) is one of nine different herpesvirus infecting man. They are all capable of establishing a life-long latent state following the primary infection. HSV-1 as well as other herpesviruses may reactivate from the latent state and give rise to a productive infection with clinical symptoms or asymptomatic shedding. LÄS MER
5. Functional and structural properties of eukaryotic DNA polymerase epsilon
Sammanfattning : In eukaryotes there are three DNA polymerases which are essential for the replication of chromosomal DNA: DNA polymerase alpha (Pol alpha), DNA polymerase delta (Pol delta) and DNA polymerase epsilon (Pol epsilon). In vitro studies of viral DNA replication showed that Pol alpha and Pol delta are sufficient for DNA replication on both leading and lagging DNA strands, thus leaving the function of Pol epsilon unknown.
