  3. 3. Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder : alterations of motor behaviour and dopaminergic transmission

    Författare :Aurelija Jucaite; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :AD HD; DCD; neurodevelopmental disorder; PET; dopamine transporter; dopamine D2 receptors; raclopride; striatum; midbrain; anticipatory postural adjustments;

    Sammanfattning : Altered catecholaminergic neurotransmission in the brain has long been thought to be of importance in the regulation of motor behavior and cognitive performance in children who had symptoms of distractability, impulsivity and clumsiness. The dopamine theory of AD/HD has mainly been substantiated by: i) the effects of psychostimulants, which target the dopamine transporter (DAT), and thereby reduce impulsiveness and inattentiveness, increase the striatal cerebral blood flow and functional activity, and ii) the evidence from linkage studies associating the AD/HD syndrome with allelic variations of genes encoding the dopamine transporter and, possibly, the dopamine D4 receptors. 4. 4. Developmental co-ordination disorder in pre-school children : Effects of motor skill intervention, parents' descriptions, and short-term follow-up of motor status

    Författare :Mia Pless; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Obstetrics and gynaecology; Developmental co-ordination disorder; follow-up; motor skill intervention; pre-school children; self-perceived competence; Obstetrik och kvinnosjukdomar; Obstetrics and women s diseases; Obstetrik och kvinnosjukdomar; pediatrik; Pediatrics;

    Sammanfattning : This investigation was undertaken to examine effects of motor skill intervention in children with motor difficulties consistent with developmental co-ordination disorder (DCD) diagnosed in child health care before school entrance, to analyse the parents' descriptions of their children, and to follow up the children's motor status in a short-term perspective. Thirteen studies on the effects of motor skill intervention were submitted to a meta-analysis (Study I). LÄS MER

    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Developmental Coordination Disorder; Learning Disorder; ADHD; Primary reflexes; Vestibular stimulation; Psycholigical development; Regression; Retraining for Balance; Developmental Coordination Disorder; Inlärningssvårigheter; ADHD; Primära reflexer; Vestibulär stimulering; Psykologisk utveckling; Regression; Retraining for Balance; Psykologi; Psychology;

    Sammanfattning : The first purpose of this thesis was to examine whether sensorimotor therapy utilizing the training program ”Retraining for Balance” might be an appropriate technique for sensorimotor proficiency. The second purpose was to gain increased understanding of the effects of sensorimotor therapy on the physical and psychological development of children and youth. LÄS MER
