1. Striatal adenosine A2A receptors
Sammanfattning : The nucleoside adenosine exerts a modulatory action in the central nervous system by activating G-protein coupled receptors. Four such receptors are cloned and pharmacologically characterized: A1, A2A, A2B and A3. Caffeine, the most widely consumed psychostimulant, acts as an adenosine receptor antagonist predominantly on the first two. LÄS MER
2. Development of radioligands for emission tomography imaging of dopamine D1 and benzodiazepine receptors
Sammanfattning : Brain imaging of dopamine and benzodiazepine (BZ) receptors in vivo is of central interest in neuropsychiatric disorders such as schizoprenia, Huntington's disease and epilepsy. The objective was to develop new radioligands for emission tomography of dopamine D1 and BZ receptors. LÄS MER
3. Life Style, Molecular Pathology, and Breast Cancer Risk
Sammanfattning : The breast cancer diagnosis covers a wide range of tumours with different geno- and phenotypic characteristics. The diversity among studies on life-style factors and their impact on breast cancer risk might be clarified by recognizing breast cancer as a heterogeneous disease. LÄS MER
4. Dopamine receptors in the rat brain
Sammanfattning : Dopamine receptors belong to a large superfamily of G protein-coupled receptors and consist of the D1, D2, D3, D4, and D5 receptors. The D2, D3, and D4 receptors belong to the D2 receptor family which is characterized by having a large third cytoplasmic loop and a short C-terminus projecting into the cytosol, and by inhibiting the enzyme adenylyl cyclase. 5. Up-regulation of dopamine D₂ receptors : in vitro and in vivo studies
Sammanfattning : In the central nervous system (CNS) dopaminergic and dopaminoceptive neurons have the ability to respond to variations in dopamine levels by for example adjusting their dopamine receptor levels. One of the most well known phenomena in this respect is that long-term blockade of D2 receptors with antipsychotic drugs leads to an increase in striatal D2 receptor density of experimental animals as well as of schizophrenic patients as measured in both post-mortem studies and in vivo positron emission tomography studies of brain.
