1. Low Noise Oscillator in ADPLL toward Direct-to-RF All-digital Polar Transmitter
Sammanfattning : In recent years all-digital or digitally-intensive RF transmitters (TX) have attracted great attention in both literature and industry. The motivation is to implement RF circuits in a manner suiting advanced nanometer CMOS processes. To achieve that, information is encoded in the time-domain rather than voltage amplitude. LÄS MER
2. Processing and presentation of exogenous antigen by dendritic cells
Sammanfattning : Dendritic cells (DC) play a key role in the immune system. In this thesis, we have investigated and characterized pathways for the processing and presentation of exogenous OVA on MHC-I ("cross-presentation") and how these were influenced by the purine nucleoside Adenosine (Ado), an immune regulator that accumulates to high concentrations at sites of inflammation and tumor growth. 3. Smooth muscle hypertrophy and the IGF-system
Sammanfattning : Insulin-like growth factor-! (IGF-I) has both metabolic and mitogenic effects on smooth muscle cells (SMCs). The effects of IGF-I are modified by a group of binding proteins (IGFBPs). The present study was devoted to smooth muscle hypertrophy and the IGF-system in smooth muscle under different conditions. 4. Genetic epidemiology of cardiometabolic biomarkers : twin studies in the genomic era
Sammanfattning : Following the Human Genome Project, many genomic approaches have been developed in genetic epidemiology to investigate the genetic influences on human complex traits. This thesis aims to answer four genetic epidemiological questions for cardiometabolic biomarkers/ traits, by using classical twin studies and novel genomic methods. LÄS MER
5. Conifer Evolution, from Demography and Local Adaptation to Evolutionary Rates : Examples from the Picea genus
Sammanfattning : Evolutionary process can be inferred at three different levels: the species level, the population level and the molecular level. In this thesis, I applied approaches at these three levels and aimed to get a comprehensive picture of conifer evolution, from speciation and demography to geographic variation and local adaptation, and then to the molecular evolution of proteins and small regulatory RNAs.
