  1. 11. Membrane protein proteomics - Novel method for membrane protein identification and quantification

    Författare :Maria Bentz; Institutionen för immunteknologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biokemisk teknik; mebran; steroider; Lipider; membranes; steroids; Lipids; enzymologi; Proteiner; Membrane proteins; Proteomics; Proteinase K; N-terminal labelling; Relative Quantitation; Database search; Cancer; Cytology; oncology; cancerology; Cytologi; onkologi; cancer; enzymology; Proteins; Biochemical technology;

    Sammanfattning : Membrane proteins are fairly refractory to digestion especially by trypsin. Less specific proteases like elastase and pepsin are much more effective. However database searching using non-tryptic peptides is much less effective due to the lack of charge localisation at the N- and C-termini and the absence of sequence specificity. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Head and Neck Cancer: Studies on microvessel density, radiation response and FDG PET

    Författare :Eva Brun; Bröstcancer-genetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; positron emission tomography PET ; 2-18 fluoro deoxy glucose FDG ; radiotherapy; microvessel density; Head and neck cancer; therapy response; Cytology; oncology; cancerology; Cytologi; onkologi; cancer;

    Sammanfattning : Treatment options of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) usually include combinations of radiotherapy and surgery, and in some cases addition of chemotherapy. In locally advanced cases cure rates are low. Current prognostic factors cannot foresee the outcome for the individual patient. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Studies of Mesenchymal Progenitor Cells and Tumour Growth, Integrins and Matrix Metalloproteinases

    Författare :Lars Bryngelsson Ohlsson; Immunologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Immunology; Tumour inhibition; cancer; onkologi; cancerology; Cytologi; oncology; Cytology; Biologi; Biology; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Integrin matrix metalloproteinase interaction; Immunologi; serologi; transplantation; Proteins; enzymology; Proteiner; enzymologi; serology; Mesenchumal progenitor cells;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis we characterize the effect of mesenchymal progenitor cells (MPCs) on tumour growth, and show that MPCs can have inhibitory effects on tumour development. We developed a method to subcutaneously transplant tumour cells, cultured in vitro in a pre-formed gelatin matrix, that made it possible to study the early phases of tumour development. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Implementation of MRI gel dosimetry in radiation therapy

    Författare :Sven Bäck; Malmö Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; oncology; Cytology; uncertainty; detector; dosimeter; ferrous ions; gel dosimetry; magnetic resonance imaging; monomers; polymerisation; proton; treatment planning verification; radiation therapy; cancerology; Cytologi; onkologi; cancer;

    Sammanfattning : Gel dosimetry was used together with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to measure three-dimensional absorbed dose distributions in radiation therapy. Two different dosimeters were studied: ferrous- and monomer gel, based on the principles of radiation-induced oxidation and polymerisation, respectively. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Advocates and Voices. Swedish patient associations, their importance to individuals with cancer and collaboration with health care

    Författare :Christina Carlsson; Bröstcancer-genetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; support; Patient associations; voluntary action perspective; cancer; membership; contact person; network; Cytologi; cancerology; oncology; Cytology; experiential knowledge; advocates; consumers involvement; voice of medicine; onkologi; voice of lifeworld;

    Sammanfattning : Patient associations (PAs) have an increasing impact for their members and for the health care system. This thesis studies PAs for cancer patients (PACPs) ? currently with over 20 000 members in Sweden ? regarding coverage, activities, and collaboration with the health care system with specific reference to the members? experiences.
