  1. 1. Experimental modulation and suppression of anti-allograft immune response

    Författare :Öyvind Östraat; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; linomide; leflunomide; cyclophosphamide; mycophenolate mofetil; azathioprine; thalidomide; cyclosporin A; ciprofloxacin; flow cytometry; production; IL-2; Rat cardiac transplantation; allograft; Immunology; serology; transplantation; Immunologi; serologi;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract The objective of this investigation was to characterise the immunomodulatory or immunosuppressive effects of single drug treatment and the potential synergistic or additive effects of combined treatment with the focus on ciprofloxacin, thalidomide, mycophenolate mofetil, azathioprine, cyclophosphamide or leflunomide added to cyclosporin A (CyA). A rat cardiac transplant model was used to study graft survival and the influence on lymphocytes was evaluated by in vitro tests. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Clinical and Epidemiological Studies of Wegener´s Granulomatosis

    Författare :Ann Knight; Roger Hällgren; Johan Askling; Anders Ekbom; Lennart Jacobsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Medicine; Wegener´s granulomatosis; incidence; time-trends; ANCA; familial aggregation; cancer risks; bladder cancer; cyclophosphamide; Medicin;

    Sammanfattning : Wegener´s granulomatosis (WG) is an unusual, serious, systemic vasculitis with specific clinical findings. The studies in this thesis aim at broadening our understanding of the aetiology and outcome of WG.Patients with WG were identified in the In-patient Register 1975-2001. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Individually Tailored Toxicity-based Chemotherapy : Studies on Patients with Primary and Metastatic Breast Cancer

    Författare :Henrik Lindman; Jonas Bergh; Carl Blomqvist; Peter Nygren; Bo Nordenskjöld; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Oncology; breast cancer; tailored chemotherapy; toxicity-based dosing; high-dose therapy; MR imaging; G-CSF; epirubicin; docetaxel; cyclophosphamide; 5-fluorouracil; Onkologi; Oncology; Onkologi;

    Sammanfattning : Standard dosing of chemotherapy based on body surface area (BSA) results in large individual differences in toxicity due to a large inter-patient variability in pharmacokinetics (PK) and pharmacodynamics (PD). This results in under-dosing in certain patients with a potentially weaker antitumoral effect. LÄS MER

  4. 4. On the autonomic control of the lower urinary tract. Functional and morphological aspects in the normal and the inflamed urinary bladder

    Författare :Daniel Giglio; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; muscarinic receptor; purinoceptor; adrenoceptor; nitric oxide; in vitro; in vivo; cystometry; Western blot; immunohistochemistry; cystitis; cyclophosphamide; urinary bladder; rat;

    Sammanfattning : The regulation of urinary bladder function involves interplay of signalling systems. Disturbances in any of the interactive systems may result in lower tract dysfunction, which is often apparent to the patient by urge to void or by incontinence, irrespectively of the cause to the lower tract syndrome. 5. 5. Monitoring of occupational exposure to antineoplastic drugs

    Författare :Maria Hedmer; Avdelningen för arbets- och miljömedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; industrial medicine; Occupational health; plasma; urine; renal clearance; risk evaluation; biological monitoring; air monitoring; wipe sampling; occupational exposure; ifosfamide; antineoplastic drugs; cyclophosphamide; Yrkesmedicin; arbetsmiljömedicin;

    Sammanfattning : Antineoplastic drugs are commonly used in the medical treatment of cancer and some other diseases. Workplaces e.g. hospital pharmacies and wards where antineoplastic drugs are used are contaminated with these drugs and health care workers are therefore at risk of getting occupationally exposed.
