1. Copper(II) Azido Complexes: Synthesis, X-ray structures, thermal and magnetic properties
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the synthesis and X-ray structure analysis of seven copper(II) and one cobalt(II) azido coordination polymer with quinoline and pyrazine derivatives as bridging co-ligands. The synthesis of these complexes were done by direct mixing of the metal salt (Cu(NO3)2 and CoCl2) and the organic ligand (pyrazinecarbonitrile, quinoxaline, quinoline-4-carboxylic acid and 2,5-dimethylpyrazine) solutions followed by the dropwise addition of aqueous sodium azide (NaN3) with continuous stirring. 2. Theoretical studies of blue copper proteins
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, a critical investigation is presented about the role of mechanical strain for the electron-transfer properties of the blue copper proteins. It has been found that the structure of a realistic model complex of the oxidised blue-copper active site, optimised in vacuum with the B3LYP method, has the same trigonal cupric geometry as in the protein. 3. On the reaction mechanism for selective catalytic reduction of NOx by NH3 over Cu-zeolites
Sammanfattning : Nitrogen oxides (NOx) are major pollutants from combustion processes, being corrosive and hazardous to human health. The main technology for exhaust aftertreatment of NOx emitted from diesel engines is selective catalytic reduction with ammonia as reducing agent (NH3-SCR). LÄS MER
4. 31 P- and 65 Cu- solid state NMR studies of Cu(I) di-alkyl-dithiophosphates : complex Formation Mechanism on Synthetic Chalcocite Surfaces
Sammanfattning : Alkyl substituted derivatives of dithiophosphoric acid are frequently used as collectors in froth flotation enrichment of copper sulfide ores. Due to interaction between Cu atoms at the surface and thiol collector molecules, a concomitant adsorption process occurs on the mineral surface. LÄS MER
5. Modelling precipitation and surface complexation reactions in systems with Goethite, Cu(II) and Oxyanions Containing As(V) or P(V)
Sammanfattning : The aqueous solubility of oxyanion (e.g. phosphates and arsenates), and thereby their mobility, bioavailability (phosphates) and toxicity (arsenates), in soils and sediments is dependent upon their chemical speciation. In complex, multicomponent systems, equilibrium modelling can be a useful tool to predict chemical speciation. LÄS MER
