6. Dispersion Engineering : Negative Refraction and Designed Surface Plasmons in Periodic Structures
Sammanfattning : The dispersion property of periodic structures is a hot research topic in the last decade. By exploiting dispersion properties, one can manipulate the propagation of electromagnetic waves, and produce effects that do not exist in conventional materials. LÄS MER
7. Ab initio Investigation of Face-centered cubic High-Entropy Alloys
Sammanfattning : High-entropy alloys (HEAs) represent a special group of solid solutions containing five or more principal elements. The new design strategy has attracted extensive attention from the materials science community. The design and development of HEAs with desired properties have become an important subject in materials science and technology. LÄS MER
8. Photonic crystals and photocatalysis : Study of titania inverse opals
Sammanfattning : Due to an increase of human activity, an increase health risk has emerged from the presence of pollutants in the environment. In the transition to renewable and sustainable life style, treatment of pollutants could support the shifting societies. LÄS MER
9. Biomimetic Formation of Calcium Phosphate Based Nanomaterials
Sammanfattning : The intercellular material in bone is a nanocomposite of aligned “hard” inorganics—calcium phosphate (CaP) platelets embedded in the long-range ordered “soft” organic collagen matrix. This elaborate structural arrangement redeems the weaknesses of the individual components (being soft protein or brittle mineral) and gives bone its excellent mechanical properties for the protection and support of our bodies. 10. Window Layer Structures for Chalcopyrite Thin-Film Solar Cells
Sammanfattning : This thesis aims to contribute to the development of improved window layer structures for chalcopyrite thin-film solar cells, with an emphasis on the buffer layer, to assist future reductions of the levelized cost of energy. This is realized by exploring the potential of existing materials and deposition processes, as well as developing new buffer layer processes based on atomic layer deposition (ALD). LÄS MER
