16. Optimal Braking Patterns and Forces in Autonomous Safety-Critical Maneuvers
Sammanfattning : The trend of more advanced driver-assistance features and the development toward autonomous vehicles enable new possibilities in the area of active safety. With more information available in the vehicle about the surrounding traffic and the road ahead, there is the possibility of improved active-safety systems that make use of this information for stability control in safety-critical maneuvers. 17. Innovating Recycling of End-of-Life Cars
Sammanfattning : There are currently a billion cars in use worldwide, and car design trends point at increasing variety in material utilisation. Cars today contain several types of steel and aluminium, an assortment of textiles and padding materials, and an increasing amount of polymers and scarce metals. LÄS MER
18. Risk and Vulnerability Analysis of Complex Systems: a basis for proactive emergency management
Sammanfattning : The present thesis concerns methods and knowledge that are useful when analysing the risks and vulnerabilities of complex systems in a societal emergency management context. Operational definitions of vulnerability and emergency response capabilities are suggested and two methods for analysing the vulnerability of critical infrastructure networks, based on the suggested definition, are presented. 19. Facilitating Automated Compliance Checking of Processes against Safety Standards
Sammanfattning : A system is safety-critical if its malfunctioning could have catastrophic consequences for people, property or the environment, e.g., the failure in a car's braking system could be potentially tragic. To produce such type of systems, special procedures, and strategies, that permit their safer deployment into society, should be used. LÄS MER
20. Real-Time Visual Analytics Interfaces to Strengthen Human-Automation Collaboration
Sammanfattning : Automation in today’s world supports human operators to accomplish several tasks in limited time. With more advanced automation and autonomous systems, the hu-mans’ role is shifting from hands-on operational tasks to supervisory tasks. LÄS MER
