  1. 21. Analysis, metabolism, effects and biological monitoring of N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone

    Författare :Martin Carnerup; Avdelningen för arbets- och miljömedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Yrkesmedicin; arbetsmiljömedicin; industrial medicine; Occupational health; developmental toxicity; biomarkers; metabolsim; N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone; dermal absorption;

    Sammanfattning : N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) is an organic solvent widely used in the industry. Irritation of the eyes and in the respiratory system has been reported after occupational exposure to low air levels of NMP. The EU has also classified it as a developmental toxicant. NMP is easily absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract and airways and through skin. LÄS MER

  2. 22. IgA Nephropathy – Mucosal Immunity and Treatment Options

    Författare :Hilde Kloster Smerud; Bengt Fellström; Gudjon Kristjansson; Roger Hällgren; Johan W. de Fijter; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; IgA nephropathy; mucosal immunity; gastrointestinal sensitivity; food allergens; pharmacological treatment; budesonide; statin; clinical trial; renal transplantation; recurrence; Internal Medicine; Internmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : In the present studies we have explored the link between food hypersensitivity and IgA nephropathy (IgAN) and evaluated treatment options in primary and recurrent disease. Approximately one third of our IgAN patients had a rectal mucosal sensitivity to gluten, as demonstrated by increased local mucosal nitric oxide production and/or myeloperoxidase release after gluten challenge. 3. 23. Perioperative acute kidney injury : risk factors and outcomes

    Författare :Daniel Hertzberg; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Acute kidney injury (AKI) is defined as a sudden decrease in renal filtration function. It is common among critically ill patients and patients undergoing major surgery, especially cardiac surgery. AKI is defined by either an elevated serum creatinine (SCr) concentration or a decrease in urine production. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Longitudinal Models for Quantifying Disease and Therapeutic Response in Multiple Sclerosis

    Författare :Ana M. Novakovic; Mats O. Karlsson; Etienne Pigeolet; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; nonlinear mixed-effects models; pharmacometrics; NONMEM; multiple sclerosis; cladribine; EDSS; item response theory; relapse rate; absolute lymphocyte count; total volume T2 lesions; burden of disease; power; sample size; Pharmaceutical Science; Farmaceutisk vetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Treatment of patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) and development of new therapies have been challenging due to the disease complexity and slow progression, and the limited sensitivity of available clinical outcomes. Modeling and simulation has become an increasingly important component in drug development and in post-marketing optimization of use of medication. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Passive Smoking in Children : The Importance of Parents’ Smoking and Use of Protective Measures

    Författare :AnnaKarin Johansson; Johnny Ludvigsson; Arne Halling; Göran Hermansson; Stefan Janson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :ETS; infant; child; cotinine; smoking behaviour; protective measures; parents; home; tobacco; child health care; ABIS; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Passive smoking has been recognised as a health hazard, and chidren are especially vulnerable. The general aim of this thesis was to describe and analyse the importance of parents’ smoking and smoking behaviour for children’s tobacco smoke exposure. LÄS MER
