  1. 1. Liquid Membrane Techniques for Trace Metal Analysis and Speciation in Environmental and Biological Matrices

    Författare :Kuria Ndung'u; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Analytical chemistry; Pb and Organotin species; MMLLE; SLM; GC MS; PSA; GFAS; FAAS; ICP-MS; Speciation; DEHPA; Aliquat-336; trace metals; Cr III ; Cr VI ; Analytisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, liquid-membrane-based methods for the analysis of trace metal species in samples of environmental and biological origin were developed. By incorporating extracting reagents in the membrane liquid, trace metal ions were selectively separated from humic-rich natural waters and urine samples, prior to their determination using various instrumental techniques. 2. 2. On New Implants - The results of five prospective, randomized RSA trials with aspects on phased introduction and continuous migration

    Författare :Mats Molt; Lund Ortopedi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; New total knee arthroplasty; TKA; RSA; randomized; prospective; prediction; continuously migrating; safety; stability CR; PS; PF; PA; short stem; tourniquet;

    Sammanfattning : A concern that arises with any change in design or operative technique is whether it affects the long-term implant stability or not. One way to address this is, by measuring early micromotion, to predict the future revision rate. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Orthopaedic measurements with computed radiography. Methodological development, accuracy, and radiation dose with special reference to the weight-bearing lower extremity and the dislocating patella

    Författare :Jan Sanfridsson; Lund Ortopedi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Clinical physics; digital.; computer-assisted; Picture Archiving and Communication Systems; computed radiography; radiography; effective dose; radiation dosage; measurements; biomechanics; dislocating patella; musculoskeletal; patellofemoral joint; Knee joint; radiology; tomography; medical instrumentation; Klinisk fysiologi; radiologi; tomografi; medicinsk instrumentering;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this study was to develop and evaluate a measurement system for computed radiography (CR) and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS), permitting measurements of long distances and angles in and between related images. The developed measurement system, which was based on the QUESTOR Precision Radiography (QPR) system, was applied to the weight-bearing knee with special reference to the dislocating patella. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Multiple functions of YopN in the Yersinia pseudotuberculosis type III secretion system : from regulation to in vivo infection

    Författare :Sarp Bamyaci; Åke Forsberg; Edouard Galyov; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Type III secretion system; Yersinia; YopN; virulence; phagocytosis; mouse infection; secretion kinetics;

    Sammanfattning : The type 3 secretion systems (T3SSs) are virulence mechanisms used by various Gram-negative bacteria to overcome the host immunity. They are often target-cell contact induced and activated. Activation results in targeting of virulence effector substrates into host cells. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Strategies to Mitigate the Degradation of Stainless-Steel Interconnects Used in Solid Oxide Fuel Cells

    Författare :Claudia Goebel; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Dual Atmosphere; Interconnect; Deformation; Long-term; Solid Oxide Fuel Cell; Hydrogen; Corrosion; Cr Evaporation; Area Specific Resistance;

    Sammanfattning : Interconnects are a vital part of solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC), where they electrically connect individual cells to form a fuel cell stack. They are a main contributor to the overall stack cost and the limited life-time of fuel cells, and, therefore, improvements carried out on the interconnect level could further the commercialization of SOFCs.
