11. Genome-wide epigenetic profiling of B cell leukemia and lymphoma
Sammanfattning : Epigenetic modifications, at the level of DNA methylation and post-translational modifications of histone tails cooperatively function in the organization of the genome, and thereby establish the gene expression profiles, phenotypes, and cellular fates. In this work, we investigated the aberrant epigenome in chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) which is one of the most frequent lymphoid malignancies in the west including the Nordic countries. LÄS MER
12. Biological signature of HER2-positive breast cancer
Sammanfattning : Human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) overexpressing breast cancers (HER2+ breast cancer) are associated with an aggressive disease course. This thesis is focused on improving the understanding of the biological signature of HER2+ breast cancer. LÄS MER
13. Enhancement of HIV-1 DNA immunogens
Sammanfattning : Human immunodeficiency virus type 1 eludes control by the immune response through a high degree of variability and immune escape mechanisms. Induction of a broad specific immune response is important to clear virus-infected cells. LÄS MER
14. Computational discovery of DNA methylation patterns as biomarkers of ageing, cancer, and mental disorders : Algorithms and Tools
Sammanfattning : Epigenetics refers to the mitotically heritable modifications in gene expression without a change in the genetic code. A combination of molecular, chemical and environmental factors constituting the epigenome is involved, together with the genome, in setting up the unique functionality of each cell type. LÄS MER
15. Suppressive DNA vaccination in experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the development of a novel method to suppress an organ-specific autoimmune disease, experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE), by vaccination with DNA encoding autoantigenic peptides. DNA vaccination can produce long-term immunity and generate antigen-specific CD8+ and CD4+ T cells. LÄS MER
