  1. 1. Arthritogenic property of bacterial DNA containing CpG motifs

    Författare :Guo-Min Deng; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; bacterial DNA; CpG ODN; arthritis; macrophage; lymphocytes; TNFa; NF-kB; mice;

  2. 2. Modulation of inflammation by immunostimulatory DNA

    Författare :Jan Bjersing; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :CpG DNA; arthritis; phosphodiester; phosphorothioate; nucleotide modification; cytokines; chemokines; FcgammaR; B cell subsets.;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to elucidate the roles of different types of DNA in inflammatory responses. We compared the immune responses to nuclease-protected phosphorothioate oligodeoxynucleotides (S-ODNs) and phosphodiester oligodeoxynucleotides (O-ODNs) that either contained or lacked CpG motifs. 3. 3. DNA vaccines and bacterial DNA in immunity

    Författare :Lisa Charlotta Bandholtz; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :DNA vaccine; CpG DNA; antimicrobial peptides C. pneumoniae; Shigella spp;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes DNA-based vaccination and the importance of bacterial DNA in different immunological perspectives. Intranasal (i.n.) DNA vaccination utilizing a plasmid encoding the chlamydial heat shock protein 60 (p-hsp-60) generated lower bacterial burden and reduced pathology in the lungs of mice after subsequent infection with C. 4. 4. Inflammatogenic properties of endogenous DNA

    Författare :Shahin Hajizadeh; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Inflammation; mtDNA; oxidized DNA; SF; CSF; RA; dementia;

    Sammanfattning : Bacterial DNA and CpG-containing oligodeoxynucleotides (ODNs) induce host inflammatory responses as a result of their content of unmethylated ¡§CpG motifs¡¨. Since the CpG motifs in the mitochondrial (mt) genome are in this respect similar to bacterial DNA, in that they are non-methylated, we investigated whether mtDNA also displays inflammatogenic potential. 5. 5. The CpG island methylator phenotype in colorectal cancer : studies on risk and prognosis

    Författare :Anna Dahlin; Richard Palmqvist; Bethany van Guelpen; Maria Henriksson; Åke Öberg; Xiao-Feng Sun; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Colorectal cancer; DNA methylation; folate; microsatellite instability MSI ; prognosis; risk factors; t-lymphocytes; the CpG island methylator phenotype CIMP ; Vitamin B12; Pathology; Patologi; Tumour biology; Tumörbiologi; patologi; Pathology;

    Sammanfattning : Background Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the second most common malignancy in developed countries. The mortality is high, with nearly half of patients dying from the disease. The primary treatment of CRC is surgery, and decisions about additional treatment with chemotherapy are based mainly on tumor stage. LÄS MER
