  1. 1. High temperature corrosion in a biomass-fired power boiler : Reducing furnace wall corrosion in a waste wood-fired power plant with advanced steam data

    Författare :Yousef Alipour; Pamela Henderson; Peter Szalalos; Christofer Leygraf; Jan Froitzheim; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; High temperature corrosion; Waterwalls; Power plant corrosion; NOx reducing enviroments; Biomass; Waste wood; Thermodynamic calculation modelling; corrosion-resistance alloy; Furnace wall corrosion; Högtemperaturekorrosion; Eldstadsväggar; kraftverks korrosion; låg Nox mijöer; biomassa; returträ; Termodynamisk modellering; korrosionsbeständighet legering; eldstadskorrosion;

    Sammanfattning : The use of waste (or recycled) wood as a fuel in heat and power stations is becoming more widespread in Sweden (and Europe), because it is CO2 neutral with a lower cost than forest fuel. However, it is a heterogeneous fuel with a high amount of chlorine, alkali and heavy metals which causes more corrosion than fossil fuels or forest fuel. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Corrosion of Ferritic Stainless Steels Used in Solid Oxide Fuel Cells

    Författare :Claudia Goebel; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SOFC; Corrosion; Dual Atmosphere; Interconnect; Area Specific Resistance;

    Sammanfattning : Solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC) are energy conversion systems with clean emissions (depending on the fuel used) and high electrical efficiencies, which could potentially replace conventional conversion systems such as combustion engines. However, other issues, such as high costs and limited lifetime, must be resolved before widespread commercialization of SOFCs can be achieved. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Corrosion of ferritic stainless steels used in solid oxide fuel cells - Investigation of novel coatings in single- and dual-atmosphere conditions

    Författare :Matthieu Tomas; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Copper; Interconnect; Coatings; Alumina; Dual Atmosphere; Area-Specific Resistance; SOFC; Corrosion;

    Sammanfattning : Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFCs) are systems that convert chemical energy into electrical energy. Their high electrical efficiency and clean emissions (when H2 is used as fuel) make them a strong candidate for replacing conventional conversion systems, such as combustion engines. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Investigations of the corrosion resistances of magnetron sputtered multicomponent materials : A study on high entropy alloys, high entropy sublattice ceramics, and metallic glasses

    Författare :Aishwarya Srinath; Leif Nyholm; Ulf Jansson; Rebecka Lindblad; Bernard Normand; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Corrosion resistance; high entropy alloys; magnetron sputtering; thin films; protective coatings;

    Sammanfattning : The corrosion resistances of sputter deposited AlCrNbYZrN, CrNbTiTaWC and TaNiSiC alloys were assessed in acidic and alkaline environments. Compositionally complex alloying strategies, and whether they produced coatings with superior corrosion resistances, were explored. LÄS MER

  5. 5. High Temperature Corrosion Behavior in Biomass- and Waste-Fired Boilers - Insights into catastrophic corrosion and corrosion mitigation techniques

    Författare :Julien Phother Simon; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; 3D tomography; TEM; Sulfur Recirculation; Waste; High-temperature corrosion; Biomass; Coatings; Stainless steel; Ni-based alloys; Deposits; KCl-induced corrosion;

    Sammanfattning : Carbon dioxide is contributing to the greenhouse effect and a significant part comes from the use of fossil fuels. Utilizing more renewable fuels is therefore a solution to decrease the net release of CO2 emissions to the atmosphere. LÄS MER
