    Sammanfattning : This thesis has three aims. One aim is to explain and analyse the environmental ethics of Rolston, Jonas and Lögstrup. A second aim is to compare and criticize their environmental ethics. A third aim is to put forward a personal proposal for an acceptable formulation of a weakly biocentrical environmental ethic.     Sammanfattning : This thesis is mainly concerned with theoretical studies of two types of models:  quantum mechanical Bose-Hubbard models and (semi-)classical discrete nonlinear Schrödinger (DNLS) models.Bose-Hubbard models have in the last few decades been widely used to describe Bose-Einstein condensates placed in periodic optical potentials, a hot research topic with promising future applications within quantum computations and quantum simulations.
