16. Micro-galvanic effects and corrosion inhibition of copper-zinc alloys
Sammanfattning : With the advancement and accessibility of local probing techniques that can operate at the submicron scale it has become possible to analyse the local corrosion properties of industrially important metallic materials and relate these properties to microstructure characteristics of the same materials. In this doctoral study the focus has been on copper-zinc samples, both as industrial brass alloys and as micro-patterned copper-zinc samples. LÄS MER
17. Removal and Recovery of Metals from Municipal Solid Waste Incineration ashes by a Hydrometallurgical Process
Sammanfattning : Municipal Solid Waste Incineration (MSWI) fly ash contains significant amounts of leachable metals, and is therefore considered to be a hazardous waste. The increased amounts of fly ash generated cause environmental issues, management costs and accumulation of valuable metals in landfills. LÄS MER
18. COPPER BINDING PROTEINS IN BREAST CANCER : CELLULAR AND MOLECULAR MECHANISMS
Sammanfattning : Cancer is one of the leading causes of human death. However, the mechanisms governing cancer are still not fully understood. Elevated levels of copper (Cu) have been observed in both cancerous tissues and the serum of cancer patients. LÄS MER
19. Friction Stir Welding of Copper Canisters Using Power and Temperature Control
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents the development to reliably seal 50 mm thick copper canisters containing the Swedish nuclear waste using friction stir welding. To avoid defects and welding tool fractures, it is important to control the tool temperature within a process window of approximately 790 to 910°C. LÄS MER
20. The initial atmospheric corrosion of copper and zinc induced by carboxylic acids : Quantitative in situ analysis and computer simulations
Sammanfattning : Degradation of metals through atmospheric corrosion is a most important and costly phenomenon with significant effects on, e.g., the lifespan of industrial materials, the reliability of electronic components and military equipment, and the aesthetic appearance of our cultural heritage.
