11. Convergence Acceleration for Flow Problems
Sammanfattning : Convergence acceleration techniques for the iterative solution of system of equations arising in the discretisations of compressible flow problems governed by the steady state Euler or Navier-Stokes equations is considered. The system of PDE is discretised using a finite difference or finite volume method yielding a large sparse system of equations. LÄS MER
12. G-convergence and homogenization for some monotone operators with multiple scales
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with questions concerning the convergence of sequences of functions and operators. G-convergence is studied for elliptic and parabolic equations and the necessary investigations of the properties of certain monotone operators are made. LÄS MER
13. G-Convergence and Homogenization of some Monotone Operators
Sammanfattning : In this thesis we investigate some partial differential equations with respect to G-convergence and homogenization. We study a few monotone parabolic equations that contain periodic oscillations on several scales, and also some linear elliptic and parabolic problems where there are no periodicity assumptions. 14. Svensk och finsk upphinnartillväxt : Faktorpris- och produktivitetsutjämning mellan Finland och Sverige 1950-2000
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to gain improved understanding of the income convergence between Finland and Sweden 1950-2000 with a focus on catch-up growth, wage formation, productivity growth, migration and structural change in a setting of structural and institutional differences on the factor markets. Earlier studies of Finnish and Swedish convergence has overlooked the international perspective and therefore missed the general European – US convergence during the period. LÄS MER
15. Convergence analysis of domain decomposition methods : Nonlinear elliptic and linear parabolic equations
Sammanfattning : Domain decomposition methods are widely used tools for solving partial differential equations in parallel. However, despite their long history, there is a lack of rigorous convergence theory for equations with non-symmetric differential operators. This includes both nonlinear elliptic equations and linear parabolic equations. LÄS MER
