1. Convection in Loose-fill Attic Insulation
Sammanfattning : The objective of this study is to investigate the influence of convection on the thermal performance of loose-fill attic insulation under realistic climate conditions. In order to achieve this, a large-scale attic test model has been constructed in a climate chamber. LÄS MER
2. Control of oscillatory thermocapillary convection
Sammanfattning : The possibility to stabilize the oscillatory thermocapillaryconvection is demonstrated using a proportional feedbackcontrol. This topic has a strong industrial motivation inconnection with a container-less crystal growth method calledthe floating-zone technique. LÄS MER
3. DNS and LES of Turbulent Natural Convection Boundary Layer
Sammanfattning : Turbulent natural convection boundary layers possess some special characteristicscompared to the other boundary layers. In order to study this kind of boundary layer, two powerful numerical methods,Direct Numerical Simulation or DNS and Large Eddy Simulation or LES,are used. LÄS MER
4. Global Magnetospheric Plasma Convection
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the global aspects of plasmaconvection in the magnetosphere as measured by the low-altitudepolar orbiting Astrid-2 and FAST satellites. The major focus ison the electric field measurements, but they are alsocomplemented by magnetic field, ion and electron particle data, which is fundamental for the understanding of theelectrodynamics of the high-latitude auroral ovals and polarcap, which are the regions analysed here. 5. Melt convection in welding and crystal growth
Sammanfattning : A parallel finite element code with adaptive meshing was developed and used to study three dimensional, time-dependent fluid flows caused by thermocapillary convection as well as temperature and dopant distribution in fusion welding and floating zone crystal growth. A comprehensive numerical model of the three dimensional time-dependent fluid flows in a weld pool had been developed. LÄS MER
