  1. 1. Some Aspects on Contamination Control in Hospitals- Observations and Measurements

    Författare :Catinka Ullmann; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Source strength; Tissue and cells establishments; Ultraclean air operating rooms; Microbial cleanliness; Autoclaves; Contamination control; Door openings; Airborne contamination risks;

    Sammanfattning : Measurements of the cleanliness level have been performed in operating rooms classified as tissue and cells establishments for bone tissue to compare the results with the requirements given in the Tissue and Cells Directives of the European Union (EUTCD). The results show that the requirements are not always fulfilled. LÄS MER

  2. 2. MRSA and other resistant bacteria : prevalence, patient and staff experiences, wounds and infection control

    Författare :Helene Andersson; Bjöörn Fossum; Christina Lindholm; Mats Kalin; Eva Johansson; Sophiahemmet Högskola; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MRSA; VRE; ESBL; Colonization; Infection control; Wound; Patient experiences; Staff experiences; Nursing care; Qualitative interview; Qualitative content analysis; MRSA;

    Sammanfattning : Antibiotic resistance has become a major and serious global problem in healthcare. Limited treatment options for infections caused by these organisms can lead to increased morbidity and mortality. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Baltic Sea sediments : Source and sink for metal contamination

    Författare :Sina Shahabi-Ghahfarokhi; João Marcelo Ketzer; Alessandro Amorosi; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Baltic Sea; sediments; acid sulfate soil; metal; remediation; reoxygenation; X-ray absorption spectroscopy; Environmental Chemistry; Miljökemi; Miljövetenskap; Environmental Science;

    Sammanfattning : The Baltic Sea sediments record spatial and temporal information about metalsand metalloids (hereafter referred to as metals), which could help to understandthe past and present contamination sinks in different basins. In addition, giventhe expanding anoxic zones in the Baltic Sea, the response of metals to artificialreoxygenation is poorly understood. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Endodontic Infection Control in General Dentistry : Barriers, Facilitators, and Clinical Practice

    Författare :Leona Malmberg; Annika Elisabeth Björkner; Malin Brundin; Gunnar Dahlén; Malmö universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Apical periodontitis is a very common condition. Epidemiological research suggests that nearly 50% of the global adult population may have had at least one affected tooth and that approximately 40% of root-filled teeth may be associated with apical periodontitis. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Pathogen colonisation, transmission and infection control measures in burn patients

    Författare :Marie Lindblad; Fredrik Huss; Jyrki Vuola; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Whole-genome sequencing; Burn injury; Acinetobacter baumannii outbreak; infection control prevention; UVC decontamination;

    Sammanfattning : Burn patients are susceptible to infections due to impaired natural defences when the epidermal barrier is damaged. Moreover, the trauma affects the patient's immune system through local and systemic inflammatory reactions. Adding to that, the need for intensive care treatment with multiple surgical interventions increases the risk of infection. LÄS MER
