  1. 1. Solute transport in the integrated soil-groundwater system

    Författare :Eva Simic; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :solute transport; groundwater transport; integrated soil.groundwater system;

    Sammanfattning : A Lagrangian stochastic travel time approach has been usedfor investigating dominant process impacts on (non-reactive andreactive) solute transport in the integrated soil-groundwatersystem. A first step has also been taken to extending thisLagrangian stochastic travel time approach to integrate thesoil-groundwater-stream transport through a catchment. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Transport and Fate of Escherichia coli in Unsaturated Porous Media

    Författare :Emma Engström; Berit Balfors; Chin-Fu Tsang; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Contaminant transport modeling; Bacterial fate; Unsaturated zone; Retention; Straining; Escherichia coli;

    Sammanfattning : The unsaturated zone could provide an effective barrier against pathogenic microbes entering the groundwater. Knowledge relating to microbial fate in this zone is therefore important for increased understanding of groundwater vulnerability. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Towards sustainable water use in industry: a case study of the oil refinery industry in Kazakhstan

    Författare :Ivan Radelyuk; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; industrial wastewater; oil refinery; Kazakhstan; groundwater contamination; groundwater modeling; contamination transport modeling; Sustainable water use; Environmental Impact Assessment; Circular Economy;

    Sammanfattning : The concept of “Sustainable water use” (SWU) aims to assure three pillars of sustainability related to the water sector: the social, environmental, and economical. Industrial development, especially in developing countries, requires an adequate response, as industrial activities are recognized as one of the major sources of water pollution, what leads to deterioration of environmental safety and wellbeing of the society. 4. 4. Predicting Spatial and Stratigraphic Quick-clay Distribution in SW Sweden

    Författare :Martin Persson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Quick clay; Stratigraphic modeling;

    Sammanfattning : Clay sediments are associated with a wide variety of engineering problems, of which landslides, together with settlement, are the most investigated due to the large associated costs. Quick-clay deposits, which if disturbed can transform into a liquid, pose a serious threat to society in southwestern Sweden and have been involved in several large landslides, sometimes with fatal consequences. 5. 5. Tracing anthropogenic Technology Critical Elements using Environmental Forensics : Case studies at Kallholmsfjärden and the Bothnian Bay, northern Sweden

    Författare :Stacy Sutliff-Johansson; Anders Widerlund; Kristi Korkka-Niemi; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Environmental Forensics; Technology Critical Elements; Sediment Contamination; Groundwater Contamination; Contaminant Tracing; Tillämpad geokemi; Applied Geochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : The rapidly changing landscape of today's technology industry has increased the number of electronic products being discarded. Society is always on the hunt for the latest product and newest technological advancement, thereby creating a constant influx of older model products into fast-growing waste streams. LÄS MER
