16. Atom Probe Field Ion Microscopy of Surface Zones, Coatings and Interfaces
Sammanfattning : This thesis is focused on developingmethods for high resolution microanalysis of coatings on a substrate, andsurface zones of a bulk sample using atom probe field ion microscopy,APFIM. The APFIM technique is described and some examples of its applications to semiconductors, cemented carbides and intermetallic compounds are given. LÄS MER
17. Modelling of wheel/rail interaction considering roughness and discrete irregularities
Sammanfattning : The interaction between wheel and rail is the predominant source of noise emission from railway operations in a wide range of conventional speeds. On the one hand, this wheel/rail noise concerns rolling noise and impact noise caused by the vertical interaction excited by roughness and discrete irregularities of the wheel/rail running surfaces, respectively. 18. Interfacial behaviour of surfactants and enzymes: studies at model surfaces
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents results from experimental studies of the interfacial behaviour of surfactants and enzymes at model surfaces. The main technique used throughout the work was ellipsometry. LÄS MER
19. Fibre/fibre joints : their characterization and influence on different paper strength properties
Sammanfattning : The main goal of this work was to gain knowledge of how to process the fibres for a certain enduse purpose. To reach this knowledge it must be clarified how different fibre properties, mechanical and chemical as well as surface and bulk properties, will influence the physical properties of the formed paper. 20. Lubrication of elastohydrodynamic contacts, mainly concerning low temperature
Sammanfattning : The limiting shear stress coefficient has been studied in a impacting ball apparatus for four different lubricating oils at -30ºC and 20ºC. The results show that the most interesting effects are; oil type, maximum contact pressure, temperature, and the interaction between the above mentioned parameters. LÄS MER
