  1. 1. Light-weighting Methodology in Rail Vehicle Design through Introduction of Load Carrying Sandwich Panels

    Författare :David Wennberg; Sebastian Stichel; Per Wennhage; Ragnar Larsson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; sandwich panels; rail vehicle; lightweight; optimisation; carbody; Vehicle engineering; Farkostteknik; Construction engineering; Konstruktionsteknik; Construction materials; Konstruktionsmaterial;

    Sammanfattning : Lightweight design in rail vehicles has been important for quite some time. Structures have been optimised to fulfill their purpose and cut unnecessary weight to reach allowable axle loads. Classically this is done by using steel, thin-walled structures, throughout the car body, or, alternatively, power-pressed aluminum profiles. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Laser welding of boron steels for light-weight vehicle applications

    Författare :Karl Fahlström; Lars-Erik Svensson; Leif Karlsson; Jens Klaestrup Kristensen; Högskolan Väst; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Laser welding; boron steel; high strength steels; strength reduction; brittle behavior; crack susceptibility; distortions; light-weight; quality; Manufacturing and materials engineering; Produktions- och materialteknik; Production Technology; Produktionsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Laser beam welding has gained a significant interest during the last two decades. The suitability of the process for high volume production has the possibility to give a strong advantage compared to several other welding methods. However, it is important to have the process in full control since various quality issues may otherwise occur. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Design, testing and analysis of journal bearings for construction equipment

    Författare :Henrik Strand; Sören Andersson; Arto Lehtovaara; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Contact Mechanics; Finite Element; Grease; Journal Bearing; Lubrication; Replica Technique; Test Apparatus; Tribology; Wear; Mechanical manufacturing engineering; Mekanisk tillverkningsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Grease-lubricated journal bearings present a common challenge for construction equipment manufacturers in the world. The common design methodology is based on empirical data and has worked very well historically because the market and governments have accepted that bearings in construction equipment need frequent lubrication and exchange of worn parts. 5. 5. Integration of Surface Acoustic Wave and Microfluidic Technologies for Liquid-Phase Sensing Applications

    Författare :Kiryl Kustanovich; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; IDE; Resonator; SH-SAW; Impedance Spectroscopy; Surface Acoustic Wave; PDMS; LiNbO3; Microfluidics; Sensor;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis discusses a new concept for construction of a novel SAW in-liquid sensor employing surface acoustic wave resonance (SAR) in a one-port configuration. In this concept, the reflective gratings of a one-port SAW resonator are employed as mass loading-sensing elements, while the SAW transducer is protected from the measurement environment, reducing power losses significantly.
