16. Multiscale modeling of ductile fracture in solids
Sammanfattning : Ductile fracture occurs in many situations of engineering relevance, for example metal cutting and crashworthiness applications, where the fracture process is important to understand and predict. Increased understanding can be gained by using multiscale modeling, where the effective response of the material is computed from microscale simulations on Statistical Volume Elements (SVEs) 1 containing explicit models for the nucleation and propagation of microscopic cracks. 17. Elastoplasticity of Grey Cast Iron FE-Algorithms and Biaxial Experiments
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on multiaxial elastoplastic behaviour of graphitic grey cast iron with the aim to provide physically appropriate and numerically reliable constitutive relations for use in FE-codes. To achieve this goal, this work is divided into three parts: Biaxial experiments are performed on thin cruciform specimens. LÄS MER
18. Modeling of Elasticity and Damping for Filled Elastomers
Sammanfattning : Elasticity and damping are significant properties of rubber, taken advantage of in engineering applications. It is therefore important that the constitutive model accurately captures these aspects of the mechanical behavior. LÄS MER
19. A Damage-Based Interface Model: Application to the Degradation and Failure of a Polycrystalline Microstructure
Sammanfattning : A constitutive model for material interfaces is presented. The model is based on damage coupled to plastic (or viscoplastic) slip and dilatation, and it is able to describe the successive degradation and failure of an interface. LÄS MER
20. Situated Freedom : Exploring the Aesthetic Practice of Rem Koolhaas/OMA
Sammanfattning : The thesis advocates that architecture can, as an operative medium, situate freedom. Following the work of Michel Foucault, the thesis develops an argument for an emancipatory endeavor, termed “situated freedom in architecture. LÄS MER
