  1. 1. Distributional Side Effects of Tax Policies: An Analysis of Tax Avoidance and Congestion Tolls

    Författare :Hanna Armelius; Lars Hultkrantz; Jonas Agell; Michael Lundholm; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Economics; Congestion tolls; Tax avoidance; Income distribution; Distributional effects; Nationalekonomi; Economics; Nationalekonomi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of three self-contained essays.Essay 1This essay examines the effects of tax avoidance on saving and income distribution. In an intertemporal model taxes can be avoided through asset trade. We find that including an avoidance response to taxation will increase all the negative distortions of increased tax progressivity. 2. 2. Designing Urban Road Congestion Charging Systems : Models and Heuristic Solution Approaches

    Författare :Joakim Ekström; Jan Lundgren; Anders Karlström; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :transport modeling; congestion pricing; network design; bi-level optimization; toll locations; traffic assignment; user equilibrium; collection cost; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Sammanfattning : The question of how to design a congestion pricing scheme is difficult to answer and involves a number of complex decisions. This thesis is devoted to the quantitative parts of designing a congestion pricing scheme with link tolls in an urban car traffic network. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Aspects of Static Multi-Class Traffic equilibria under Congestion Pricing

    Författare :Per Olov Lindberg; Lars-Göran Mattsson; David Watling; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; traffic; congestion pricing; equilibria; marginal social cost; Other civil engineering and architecture; Övrig samhällsbyggnadsteknik och arkitektur;

    Sammanfattning : Congestion charging is a now accepted means of influencing traffic to behave in a more socio-economic optimal way, like e.g. in the Stockholm project. Already early work, in the 1920’s, showed that road use can be inefficient due externalities, i. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Optimization Approaches for Design of Congestion Pricing Schemes

    Författare :Joakim Ekström; Jan Lundgren; Richard Connors; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : In recent years, there has been a growing interest in congestion pricing as a tool for solving traffic congestion problems in urban areas. However, the transportation system is complex and to design a congestion pricing scheme, i.e. to decide where and how much to charge the road users, is not trivial. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Transport and environment incentive policy instruments : effects and interactions

    Författare :Xing Liu; Lars Hultkrantz; James Odeck; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Congestion pricing; Equity effects; Modal choice; Social marginal cost; Externalities; Transport taxation; Carbon tax; Carbon leakage; Computable General Equilibrium Model; VTTS; Simultaneous decision model; Random utility model; Logistics cost minimization; Additionality; Klimp; Climate subsidy program; Subsidy; CDM; Business Studies; Företagsekonomi;

    Sammanfattning : This dissertation studies issues related to the evaluation of the effects and interactions of transport and environmental incentive policy instruments. Essay 1: Green cars sterilize congestion charges: a model analysis of the reduced impact of Stockholm road tolls calibrates a modal-choice model with data from the Stockholm road toll and uses it to study the sensitivity of congestion toll effects to some seemly subtle changes in the toll system design and external circumstances.
