  1. 1. Numerical Modelling of Fuel Injection and Stratified Turbulent Combustion in a Direct-Injection Spark-Ignition Engine Using an Open Source Code

    Författare :Chen Huang; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; hollow-cone spray; KHRT; liquid penetration; CFD; OpenFOAM; Flame Speed Closure FSC ; ignition delay; SMD; gasoline surrogate; laminar flame speed; presumed PDF; Spray-Guided Gasoline Direct Injection engine; chemical mechanism; modelling; premixed stratified turbulent combustion;

    Sammanfattning : Stringent regulations on the emission of pollutants, especially carbon dioxide (CO2), necessitate the development of advanced combustion technologies. Gasoline direct injection (GDI) into the combustion chamber of a Spark Ignition (SI) engine is a combustion strategy that is widely recognized as having the potential to improve fuel efficiency of internal combustion engines for passenger cars. 2. 2. Aspects of probabalistic serviceability limit state design of dry deep mixing

    Författare :Niclas Bergman; Stefan Larsson; Tim Länsivaara; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Byggvetenskap; Civil and Architectural Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : An expanding population and increased need for infrastructure increasingly necessitate construction on surfaces with poor soil conditions. To facilitate the construction of buildings, roads and railroads in areas with poor soil conditions, these areas are often improved by means of foundation engineering. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Strength variability in lime-cement columns and its effect on the reliability of embankments

    Författare :Mohammed Salim Al-Naqshabandy; Stefan Larsson; Lars Olsson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; lime-cement; embankments;

    Sammanfattning : Ground improvement by deep mixing (DM) is a generic term used for a number of methods in which a binding agent, often lime and/or cement, is mechanically mixed with the soil to increase its engineering properties. The inherent variability with respect to the engineering properties of the improved soil is high due to the variations in geology and the complex mixing process. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Application of the SASW-technique in geotechnical in-situ testing

    Författare :Mats Svensson; Institutioner vid LTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; teknisk geologi; Hydrogeologi; Spectral Analysis of Surface Waves; shear modulus; SASW; multichannel; inversion; Gmax; teknisk geografi; Environmental technology; pollution control; Miljöteknik; kontroll av utsläpp; geographical and geological engineering; Hydrogeology; Civil engineering; hydraulic engineering; offshore technology; soil mechanics; Väg- och vattenbyggnadsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : With the main aim to test the applicability of the surface wave seismic technique Spectral Analysis of Surface Waves (SASW), used for determination of the shear stiffness (shear modulus - Gmax), four areas of applications have been studied. The four areas have been sites with natural geological conditions, sites where non destructive testing is necessary, pavement testing and multichannel testing. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Mechanical properties of stabilized dredged sediments : for sustainable geotechnical structures

    Författare :Gregory Paul Makusa; Göran Holm; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Soil Mechanics; Geoteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Dredging activities at Ports and Harbors are inevitable for the safe navigation of ships and vessels. Dredged material may range from very fine and contaminated sediments to sand and gravels. While, granular dredged material can be directly utilized in civil engineering applications, fine sediments may require further treatment before use. LÄS MER
