21. Excitonic effects in ZnO
Sammanfattning : Zinc Oxide (ZnO) is an extensively researched II-VI wide bandgap semiconductor material. As a promising material for future optoelectronic and spintronic applications, it continues to attract enormous amount of interest. LÄS MER
22. Charcot-Marie-tooth disease : muscle morphological and neurophysiological aspects
Sammanfattning : Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT) is a common inherited disorder of the peripheral nervous system characterised by distal weakness and muscular atrophy, sensory disturbance of the distal limbs, diminished or absent deep tendon reflexes and often pes cavus. CMT is divided into two major groups based on clinical and electrophysiological findings. LÄS MER
23. Fronts and instabilities in laser ablation, organic semiconductors and quantum media
Sammanfattning : The concept of a front plays a decisive role in various elds in physics and beyond. In the present thesis we study key aspects of front dynamics and stability in the context of laser plasmas, organic semiconductors and quantum media. LÄS MER
24. Effects of nucleus pulposus on nerve root circulation and function. Morphologic and functional studies in an experimental model using porcine spinal nerve roots
Sammanfattning : Sciatica due to lumbar disc herniation has for many decades been viewed as a consequence of mechanical compression exerted on spinal nerve roots by the bulging disc tissues. Recent research has, however, indicated that extruded nucleus pulposus (NP) from the intervertebral disc might cause functional and endoneurial morphological changes in spinal nerve roots, without mechanical compression. 25. Time-resolved optical characterisation of defect-rich semiconductors
Sammanfattning : This thesis explores carrier trapping and recombination indefect-rich semiconductors, and methods for materialcharacterisation. Optimal manufacturing parameters areestablished for materials to be used in the ultrafast devicesneeded for future telecommunication applications. LÄS MER
