  1. 16. Interactive 3D Image Analysis for Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery Planning and Orthopedic Applications

    Författare :Johan Nysjö; Ingela Nyström; Filip Malmberg; Ida-Maria Sintorn; Jayaram K. Udupa; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; medical image analysis; interactive segmentation; volume rendering; computed tomography; Computerized Image Processing; Datoriserad bildbehandling;

    Sammanfattning : Modern medical imaging devices are able to generate highly detailed three-dimensional (3D) images of the skeleton. Computerized image processing and analysis methods, combined with real-time volume visualization techniques, can greatly facilitate the interpretation of such images and are increasingly used in surgical planning to aid reconstruction of the skeleton after trauma or disease. 2. 17. Equivariant Neural Networks for Biomedical Image Analysis

    Författare :Karl Bengtsson Bernander; Ingela Nyström; Michal Kozubek; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Computerized Image Processing; Datoriserad bildbehandling;

    Sammanfattning : While artificial intelligence and deep learning have revolutionized many fields in the last decade, one of the key drivers has been access to data. This is especially true in biomedical image analysis where expert annotated data is hard to come by. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Haptics with Applications to Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery Planning

    Författare :Pontus Olsson; Ingrid B. Carlbom; Blake Hannaford; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; medical image processing; haptics; haptic rendering; haptic gripper; visuo-haptic co-location; vibrotactile feedback; surgery simulation; virtual surgery planning; cranio-maxillofacial surgery; Computerized Image Processing; Datoriserad bildbehandling;

    Sammanfattning : Virtual surgery planning systems have demonstrated great potential to help surgeons achieve a better functional and aesthetic outcome for the patient, and at the same time reduce time in the operating room resulting in considerable cost savings. However, the two-dimensional tools employed in these systems today, such as a mouse and a conventional graphical display, are difficult to use for interaction with three-dimensional anatomical images. Sammanfattning : This thesis addresses a challenging problem: “how to let the visually impaired ‘see’ others emotions”. We, human beings, are heavily dependent on facial expressions to express ourselves. A smile shows that the person you are talking to is pleased, amused, relieved etc. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Image Analysis and Deep Learning for Applications in Microscopy

    Författare :Omer Ishaq; Carolina Wählby; Bernd Rieger; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Machine learning; Deep learning; Image analysis; Quantitative microscopy; Bioimaging; Computerized Image Processing; Datoriserad bildbehandling;

    Sammanfattning : Quantitative microscopy deals with the extraction of quantitative measurements from samples observed under a microscope. Recent developments in microscopy systems, sample preparation and handling techniques have enabled high throughput biological experiments resulting in large amounts of image data, at biological scales ranging from subcellular structures such as fluorescently tagged nucleic acid sequences to whole organisms such as zebrafish embryos.
