11. Rethinking Speculative Execution from a Security Perspective
Sammanfattning : Speculative out-of-order execution is one of the fundamental building blocks of modern, high-performance processors. To maximize the utilization of the system's resources, hardware and software security checks in the speculative domain can be temporarily ignored, without affecting the correctness of the application, as long as no architectural changes are made before transitioning to the non-speculative domain. 12. A Design Toolkit for Emerging Learning Landscapes Supported by Ubiquitous Computing
Sammanfattning : The widespread use of mobile devices and their integration in our everyday ac- tivities is changing the way we communicate, share information, and learn. The rapid adoption of powerful mobile devices also offers new opportunities to sup- port teaching and learning. LÄS MER
13. Design of Energy-Efficient High-Performance ASIP-DSP Platforms
Sammanfattning : In the last ten years, limited clock frequency scaling and increasing power density has shifted IC design focus towards parallelism, heterogeneity and energy efficiency. Improving energy efficiency is by no means simple and it calls for a reevaluation of old design choices in processor architecture, and perhaps more importantly, development of new programming methodologies that exploit the features of modern architectures. 14. Cognition reversed : Robot learning from demonstration
Sammanfattning : The work presented in this thesis investigates techniques for learning from demonstration (LFD). LFD is a well established approach to robot learning, where a teacher demonstrates a behavior to a robot pupil. This thesis focuses on LFD where a human teacher demonstrates a behavior by controlling the robot via teleoperation. LÄS MER
15. Sparse Voxel DAGs for Shadows and for Geometry with Colors
Sammanfattning : Triangles are probably the most common format for shapes in computer graphics. Nevertheless, when high detail is desired, Sparse Voxel Octrees (SVO) and Sparse Voxel Directed Acyclic Graphs (DAG) can be considerably more memory efficient. One of the first practical use cases for DAGs was to use the structure to represent precomputed shadows. LÄS MER
