  1. 11. Clustering in the Big Data Era: methods for efficient approximation, distribution, and parallelization

    Författare :Amir Keramatian; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Clustering; Approximation-based synopsis; Distributed and Parallel Processing; Applied ML;

    Sammanfattning : Data clustering is an unsupervised machine learning task whose objective is to group together similar items. As a versatile data mining tool, data clustering has numerous applications, such as object detection and localization using data from 3D laser-based sensors, finding popular routes using geolocation data, and finding similar patterns of electricity consumption using smart meters. Sammanfattning : A challenge for the clinical management of Parkinson's disease (PD) is the large within- and between-patient variability in symptom profiles as well as the emergence of motor complications which represent a significant source of disability in patients. This thesis deals with the development and evaluation of methods and systems for supporting the management of PD by using repeated measures, consisting of subjective assessments of symptoms and objective assessments of motor function through fine motor tests (spirography and tapping), collected by means of a telemetry touch screen device. 3. 13. Shared Resources in Distributed Systems: Analytical Tools for Evaluation and Self-stabilizing Provisioning

    Författare :Iosif Salem; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; self-stabilization; smart grid; online algorithms; shared object systems; resource sharing; software-defined networks; distributed algorithms;

    Sammanfattning : Distributed computing is an established computing paradigm of modern computing systems.The nodes of a distributed system interact either by sharing resources or via a communication network. In both cases, provisioning of shared resources is a challenge, for example when resource demand and supply varies or when the system is prone to failures. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Exploring C2 Capability and Effectiveness in Challenging Situations : Interorganizational Crisis Management, Military Operations and Cyber Defence

    Författare :Magdalena Granåsen; Niklas Hallberg; Henrik Eriksson; Henrik Tehler; Linköpings universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Modern societies are affected by various threats and hazards, including natural disasters, cyber-attacks, extreme weather events and inter-state conflicts. Managing these challenging situations requires immediate actions, suspension of ordinary procedures, decision making under uncertainty and coordinated action. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Symbolic Supervisory Control of Resource Allocation Systems

    Författare :Zhennan Fei; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Resource Allocation System; Binary Decision Diagram.; Discrete Event System; Supervisory Control Theory;

    Sammanfattning : Supervisory control theory (SCT) is a formal model-based methodology for verification and synthesis of supervisors for discrete event systems (DES). The main goal is to guarantee that the closed-loop system fulfills given specifications. SCT has great promise to assist engineers with the generation of reliable control functions. LÄS MER
